Really That Good - TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE (1986)

ChaosEngine says...

I have to say that I loved the intro to this.

Also, I saw this movie when I was 9, and I loved it.

Watched it again a few years ago, and while as an adult I can recognise the cynical marketing, the phoned-in celebrity voices and the at times batshit insane script, I don't think I will ever be able to watch Prime kicking arse to "The Touch" without a deep, visceral "fuck yeah" reaction. Yeah, it's cheesy as fuck, but goddamn, it is just freakin' *quality.

NYC's Best Burger, Explained

Sarzy says...

I think a lot of people are down on American cheese based on its worst, cheapest variants. *Good* American cheese is, hands down, the best cheese for a cheeseburger. I mean, there's no debate there. It has a mild -- but not overwhelming -- cheesy flavour, and it has the perfect gooey consistency that melds with the beef in the best way possible.

That's absurd. American "cheese"? What a waste.

james o'keefe and project veritas are reknowned in their deceptions and their so-called 'gotcha" shenanigans.

and when i say "shenanigans",i mean clever editing to create a false premise that suits a political agenda.in this case:republicans.

o'keefe is not the first to kneel at the altar of political money, and suck the cock of his masters, simply to buy his way into the powered elites outhouse, located on the very edge of the property.(oooh i am being sassy today).

we can look back at the tea party and literally watch dick army, former congressman turned lobbyist (shocker right there),single handedly change the direction of an entire movement to serve the needs and desires of HIS masters,by the creation of "americans for prosperity".

i am not kidding.
go check it out.
when the original tea party started their message was very similar to the occupy wall street movement in 2011,but dick army and his merry band of fuckheads, manipulated the leadership from outrage against:big banks, wall street and the horrendous malfeasance of rumsfelds department of defense (still looking for that 1 trillion dollars of tax payer money)..

to...

big government and the democrats.

it was quite impressive in its simplicity and brilliance.
reprehensible and grotesque,but impressive.

we can even look at the private organization of the DNC,and how they openly attempted to undermine bernie sanders campaign.a man who was running on THEIR ticket for fuck sakes!

i seem to be on a kick today in regards to people who sell their integrity for cash.for access.for influence.

it appears john carpenters "they live" was not just a simple,cheesy,sci-fi movie but rather a documentary.

#CreateCourage - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Ads can, and may try to use touchy feely emotional ploys to sell their products, but they run the risk of being called out on it.
When the cheesy emotional ploy has absolutely zero to do with the product, they SHOULD be called out...keep in mind that this kind of BS misdirection resulted in our current president elect.
Appealing to people's emotions with schlock rather than using information to appeal to their rationality usually means a rational argument can't be made. The more this MO persists, the worse it gets. I never liked that type of ad, but these days I detest them for their lack of information and attempts at emotional triggering to get your money.

Wow. Just wow. I have no words for these negative attitudes. I guess this is just how we are now.

Well, I refuse to believe this.

I believe that ads can tell a good story, regardless of the product. I believe that ads can be funny, dramatic, sad, happy, or anything else they want to be. To simply declare that an "ad" cannot be a certain thing that doesn't fit your view is just strange. It rings of past where people tried to dictate what art can and cannot be.

I can tell you that I have enjoyed many ads over the years that tell an emotional story. I can also tell you that I can't remember a single company from any of them. Although I am pretty sure they were from other countries for products that aren't even available to me.

Watching A Horror Film As A Young Boy

SDGundamX says...

Huh, guess I was one of the few that saw a porno before I ever saw a horror movie. Guess I was about 9 or 10, older friend's dad was out of town, and said friend had found his Betamax porn stash so he invited all the kids in the neighborhood (boys and girls both) ranging in age from 8-17 to watch. The teens laughed their assess off when all us kids were completely grossed out by the first moneyshot we saw. Seriously, it may as well have been a horror movie for all the kids screaming "What the hell IS that?!?"

Learned a lot that day from the older kids, but mostly learned that 70s porn is cheesy beyond belief. Baum-chika-baum-baum!

I'm presuming the cheesiness of the humor is for source material accuracy?

This looks like it would be amazing, but the humor just makes me roll my eyes! I'm actually envious of the people who like it. I would love to see a wise-cracking, brutal superhero film. I want to love this movie so bad.

I always get a smile on my face with cheesy stupid things such as this, which always lead me to wondering how humans can be so callous toward other life on the planet.
Maybe not callous, maybe just thoughtless. This stuff makes me really happy and just reinforces my love of life.
