Don't Try And Start Shit With A Letterkenny Dude

bremnet says...

How're ya now? That's pretty close, and a common error in dialect assignment, as the Classic Received Cape Breton is often confused with the Middle South Ontario (the St. Mary's / Listowel /Wingham Triangle Region to be precise) from which this originates. The telltale difference is the use of "Give 'er", uncommon in the MSO, popular in the CRCB.

(and yes, we do speak like this)

Sorry, it's a Windtalker sort of thing. You have to be born to it.

There's actually two dialects going in this clip, Common Hockey and Classic Received Cape Breton.

Morris Day and the HAIM - "Jungle Love"

newtboy says...

Who is "the Haim"? Never heard of them.
I wanna see Morris sing with Bruno Mars' band, they already sound quite a bit like the Time, and Bruno's backup singers definitely dance better than these.
Side note, did the hype man forget the cape, or is he saving it for the encore? What gives? At least he brought the mirror.
Totally reminds me of seeing Purple Rain at a theater in Oakland...the most appropriate place to see it, even though I was the only white boy in the audience (or maybe because).

U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville

bareboards2 says...

You like Saturns?

My dad blew one up. And a Titan.

He was a Range Safety officer with the Air Force in the late 1950's, early 60's. Would blow up missiles that were going off course, so the debris would fall in safe areas. Blew up LOTS of missiles.

I have a really cool image of his going away present when he left Cape Canaveral -- a cartoon with him astride a rocket, in space, over Cape Canaveral. There are silhouettes of all the missiles he blew up over his time there on the side of the rocket he is riding -- with hashmarks for HOW MANY he blew up.

It's really cool.

He BLEW UP A SATURN. Which isn't as powerful as the Titan he blew up!

O wow, long time no sift, sorry. Once my account got locked at work, I just never visited anymore.

But I got to head out to the rocket center for the random acts of intelligence show, it was pretty awesome. All the video here is just from one of the 2 building...so ya, worth a trip!

The Saturn was more amazing than I had imagined. I always knew it was big, but seeing it sprawled out on the ceiling is indescribable. Imagine a 30 story building filled with explosives, lit on fire and hurling itself into space...because that is what this is. I have lots of pictures if people want to see, I will surely share them.

Glad to see sift is still alive and well. The sift, specifically a video by @dag, basically changed the course of my life and I am now pursing a degree in nuclear engineering, so thanks for that. Anyway, if I can figure out a way to change my name, perhaps I can once again partake of some sift action.

Gophers Kiss Cam Guy: Story Behind the Sign

MilkmanDan says...

"American sports have loads of delays and gaps":

The Durban Test match (cricket) between South Africa and England was to be played as a timeless Test match and some eleven days later it was still left drawn since England had to begin their two-day rail journey back to their ship at Cape Town.
It still remains the longest ever first-class match of ten days of actual play. The match was abondoned (sic) as a draw after 43 hours 16 minutes of actual play.
*(from here)*

...Somehow, I think that a kiss cam or some other entertainment (sure, why not a juggler too?) would be a very welcome addition in a match like that. Eleven days, so 264 hours, with 43+ hours of active game play. Better make it a long list of entertainment!

As a Englishman I'm used to just watching the sport in front of me and we don't resort to audience participation.
So what the hell is this? I know American sports have loads of delays and gaps but is this an accepted way of filling it up? I can think of a few reasons why you might not want to do this and this guy has brought up one of them.

Can't they just bring on a juggler or two?

Stunning Wingsuit Flight Through a Winter Wonderland

Payback says...

This is how they should have filmed the Superman flight scenes. Just use green for the wings and photoshop them out and add a cape (if they can't use one while flying)
