HBOs 'Questioning Darwin' - Creationists Talk Creationism

JustSaying says...

I love the irony of people believing in an eternal, omnipotent, realitydefining being that can't be the driving, creative force behind concepts like evolution or the big bang just because their human written book says so.
It simply illustrates my point: if a timetraveller went back and edited the early biblestories to include Superman instead of Jesus, these people would have the letter S on their necklaces instead of crosses and the Pope would wear a red cape.
They call themselves christians but what they truly believe in is a book and not the people or concepts it talks about. If it isn't in the book, it isn't real. These people live in Fantastica and science is their Nothing.

This is their escape-from-the-ghetto anthem man, no worries. What would really scare you is the neighborhood they grew up in and their colorful friends in Cape Town...Come fame, and the kids are legit and 'child-approved!'

Why LEGO is the BEST Company in the World

probie says...

When I was 10 years old, I played with Star Wars figures. At some point, I lost two of the guns for two of the characters. So I wrote Kenner, the maker of the the Star Wars figures at the time, wondering if there was some way I could get just those two guns.

A few weeks later, I received a padded envelope in the mail. Someone at Kenner had received my letter, gone down to the supply area and hand scooped parts and accessories from the line. Not only did I get the two guns I was missing, but at least 8-10 dupes, 1-2 copies of every other type of gun, replacement plastic capes for Darth Vader, Obi Wan, Bespin Leia, the newer cloth capes, Yoda's plastic snake and walking stick, in-arm lightsabers, hand grip lightsabers, you name it, it was in that padded envelope - including stuff for figures I didn't even own.

Someone took five minutes out of their day and it made my year. I've never forgotten that lesson.

I thought the following factoid was cool as shit~

"Bill Finger and I created the Joker. Bill was the writer. Jerry Robinson came to me with a playing card of the Joker. That's the way I sum it up. [The Joker] looks like Conrad Veidt — you know, the actor in The Man Who Laughs, [the 1928 movie based on the novel] by Victor Hugo. [...] Bill Finger had a book with a photograph of Conrad Veidt and showed it to me and said, 'Here's the Joker'. Jerry Robinson had absolutely nothing to do with it, but he'll always say he created it till he dies. He brought in a playing card, which we used for a couple of issues for him [the Joker] to use as his playing card" ~ Bob Kane Interviewed by Frank Lovece for Entertainment Weekly, 1994. Perkowski grabbed the footage from that very flick to create his joker character for this nod to the caped crusader.

Man of Steel - Teaser Trailer

I've never seen a superman film that I've really dug. I think it's the spandex and the cape. It's really hard to modernise, I think. It just looks silly and dated in 2012, doesn't it?

The one with Reeves was good. His acting made it work.
