My experience differs.

If, in one's opinion, there are no good cops, how exactly does one stand up and support them? Those brave few cops that turn in crooked cops get insane support from the public, and death threats from other cops. What would you suggest? It's not a lack of public support for good cops that's an issue, it's a total lack of repercussions for the bad.
Edit: Also, there's the mindset that holding them to a high standard IS supporting the few good cops that meet those standards by not rewarding those who don't.

Yes, people who support good cops are in a tight spot. But they also need (the cops' ) support. They need someone to believe in. Ftfy.

I believed in good cops for quite a while, and couldn't find them, that why I stopped believing.

The ad is just a big yawn for me. The symptom of people still using generalizations and stereotypes to classify a group of people and saying it's "caring, loving, intelligent and brave" is repulsive to me, and needs to be called out. That doesn't hold ONLY when it's blacks, mexicans, muslims or women being targeted but yes, even if it's whites or men.

I don't see it as wrong. I see it as a strategy created by caring, loving, intelligent and brave people. I think you may feel attacked and accused by this ad. You don't want people looking at you and falsely judging you as scum on the basis of this ad.

The point is if it's targeting men who behave badly, or ALL men. Pointed out the section of the commercial in another thread:

Entire line of men ALL chanting boys will be boys

The most straight forward interpretation here is that the problem lies with ALL men. It's in fact tricky to interpret " something finally changed" and "no going back" to at the least be an indictment of MOST men, baring the brave heroic minority that are finally taking a stand.

IMO, that's not how you get people to change, that's how you make them defensive and get them to dig in their heels.

Screaming "I'm brave" while white knuckling your gun and pissing your pants over the brown menace doesn't make you brave, not even if you highlight it in bold.

Damn. We might have to remove "home of the brave" from the national anthem.
