From the description on the original post -- just some more detail:
On the Morning of May 18th 2011 my wife noticed a deer in our yard that appeared to be franticly looking for something in the rocks that form a wall on property line in Brush Prairie WA. When we first went out with our neighbors, we didn't see anything but the deer wouldn't leave our yard. We went back to our house and watched after a few minutes the deer came back.
We went out to the area the deer was concentrating on and could hear a baby fawn crying in the rocks. We moved some of the rocks and smaller boulders and saw baby fawn's face in the rocks. He had apparently fallen in [or] crawled in through one of the gaps and was now trapped. The larger boulders were too heavy to move and we didn't want to have the rocks cave in on the baby deer.
We finally called our Clark County Fire District 3. The B Shift team came out and they were able to move the larger rocks out of the way with the Jaws of Life enough to be able to reach in a pull the baby fawn out and reunited it with its momma. The fawn was probably stuck in their most of the night quickly went on to nurse off its momma....

! Momma Deer Kicks Dogs Ass !

Sagemind says...

I must say, I grew up around wild animals, I know the drill. Last year, we had a mama bear and three cubs living in our backyard for a week living off the apple trees. I have to protect and pull back my dog twice. We have deer all the time, even a moose or two. I've also been present when a German Shepard picked up a poodle that was walking by a cafe and tried to shake it too death. I was there and I was first to jump on the Shepard. It wasn't even my dog. I know my instincts and what I am capable of. A dog is a family member, and I know I'd lay my life down for my kids before I ever considered the outcome - These protective instincts would definitely come into play here.

And no, I don't see Bambi when I look at these animals. I have taken wildlife training as well as the hunter core program. I have been face-to-face with many, many wild animals.

So, although your comment is valid, and I do understand where you are coming from, I can personaly make my comments here and feel validated by them. - Cheers!

It seems everyone who saw this video and posted a comment is a hero! Congratulations on knowing what you would do after the event has already happened, in the comfy position behind your computer. Sorry I'm a douche.

The Bechdel Test for Women in Movies

Porksandwich says...

Can she improve any of the listed movies by including characters and scenes that would make those movies pass the test?

I dislike reading books where the author goes off on tangents that have no impact on the story, and I hate them even more when they seem like they were added to conveniently answer a plot hole and it comes out of the blue while introducing a new character who is forgotten 2 pages later.

If the women don't add anything to the story or the experience......why have them? If I were to sit down and write a story, I'm going to write what I think makes the better story. I am not going to go out of my way to include a few female characters that I had no plans to include so I could pass some test, or try to superficially include female readers. In fact I think it is more insulting to include overall meaningless characters, and cheapens the experience.

There are movies that are inherently male only, prison movies with a male lead, most war movies, popular sports figures specifically focusing on the sport and not their personal lives (it's either going to be all male or all female), specific professions (IT comes to mind as a dominant male profession [because it is not a cohesive job for females wanting to have children], but sex workers....how often do you hear about male prostitutes? They exist, why don't you hear about them?)

I'd prefer them to make decisions on entertainment that makes the story more interesting, and having a lesbian couple named Candy and Bambi talking about how hot each other is......might make the story more interesting.....and pass the test. Although I don't think that's what she was hoping for in this video.

Futurama - Fry's Dog Waiting (Ending and Sad)

stevnjessie1 says...

fry's dog on Futurama was based on the japanese akita Hachiko (except for the spaceships and blob-monsters - look it up). This is the saddest thing you could put on cartoon; bambi's mom isn't even in the ballpark.
