Great Rant from God Bless America

GenjiKilpatrick says...

@ulysses1904

Slow your roll there, bucko. I was implying that only a hipster would say some shit like Gorillaman did.

That even if my views are the polar opposite of the American Idol-esque popculture.. that I'm somehow still culpable and complicit.

VICTIMS of OBAMACARE

Fletch says...

I believe in a government as small and limited as possible. The corruption over the years have lead us to what we have. I would gather that more that 90% of elected official receive gains from groups for policies that don't serve the public. AS such such we can't trust our politicians to be honest I just assume a small government to limit the corruption and damage to the American people.

I have not problem with the supreme court. They call it a tax and as such is constitutional.

I do have a big disagreement with the bill being government control as such hope for complete repeal next election.

Are you in favor of repealing other taxes that force us to pay for service you don't want?

I think 90% is conservative, however, I think down-sizing a large corrupt government just leaves you with a small corrupt government. I'd rather fix the system (simplistic, but consider it more of an idealogical disagreement with your solution), which seems more and more impossible to do as the plutocracy gains more and more power through the senators, congressmen, and judges who serve them. If Citizens United hasn't triggered SHTF (yet), I don't know what will. It's as if BigMacs, American Idol, and Twitter render people daft, pacified, and indifferent to reality.

Forward.

toferyu says...

just found out that "Fox News is now reporting that President Barack Obama’s just-released new campaign video that previews his new slogan, “Forward,” has “historical ties to Marxism, Socialism.”"

... but then again

"Forward is a leadership position in football, basketball, and rugby. The Forward is also a Jewish-American newspaper. Forward is also the name of several towns in Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Forward is also the name of a truck sold in the U.S. by Isuzu. And Forward is the name of an album recorded by American Idol semi-finalist Ayla Brown.

Interesting that Fox News and the Washington Times didn’t bother to make those sports, journalism, geographic, automotive, or musical references."

Content That We Used to Run [Gotye Parody]

Porksandwich says...

Some people on Youtube, all they do is make WoW content stuff. Since they can use the engine to make videos to accompany them if the song is popular.

Lots of pretty good singers on there, find them more entertaining than the singing TV drama shows like "The Voice" and "American Idol".

>> ^Trout:

Just to be clear, it's Janet and RANDY Jackson doing this duet. Michael and his brothers (older, and not little kids anymore) enter from the right at the very end.

Oh serious ? you mean the guy from American Idol ? hahahahha

Thanks for the heads up.

Teenagers Can't Answer Basic Trivia Questions

Mitt Romney - I Like Firing People

jmzero says...

I think you have to really already not like Mitt in order to get too worked up about this. Even out of context it's not that offensive or entertaining, and I think "government firing people" is actually what a lot of the Republican base wants anyways.

In general, it baffles me that the Republicans can't find better candidates; but then again look at the hoops you have to jump through. Romney is a perfect example; as NetRunner says above, it's clear he supports a health plan substantively the same as Obama's - but he HAS TO say he hates it to have any hope. They have to walk a tightrope on social issues and toe a very narrow line on economics. Pander, pander, pander, never be candid, never just say what you think.

Well, except Ron Paul. That guy doesn't pander. He just is. Unfortunately for him, I don't think what he is is what quite enough people want for him to actually be elected. I wish there was Ron Paul equivalents at a few different places on the political spectrum. How refreshing it would be for people to be picking the candidate who actually agreed with them, rather than whoever pretends the best (or presents themselves the best, like this is bloody American Idol).

ACLU-just say no to the war on drugs

ChaosEngine says...

>> ^MarineGunrock:

Awwww..... FUCK that stupid "DING" sound. OMFG.

Agreed. It was *DING!* annoying, *DING!* pointless and *DING!* did I mention fucking annoying.

I like the concept of content producers agreeing to make more stuff in exchange for policy changes though. We could get another season of Firefly if they slash the military budget. Or Pink Floyd could reform if they repeal the patriot act. Or Simon Cowell could come back to American Idol if they get rid of the TSA... actually, fuck that. I'd rather be groped by a sweaty man at an airport than have more of that shit on tv.

Religion of Peace strikes again

enoch says...

this is pretty brutal.the raw footage makes it even more visceral.
this is technically snuff but with redeeming value in the sense of staring horror in the face.
and this IS horror.
the horror of fundamentalism.
the horror that a group-think mentality fueled by religious dogma could so easily persuade a human being to take a bat to another human beings head while the onlookers cheer.
the horror that these very same people believe with all their hearts they are doing "gods work" and are justified in their brutality perpetrated on another human being.
the horror that maybe another fundamentalist from another religion may watch this and feel a sense of duty to pick up a gun or some other weapon and stand as a "holy warrior" to enact a justice demanded by "their god" against the muslim zealot.
the horror of the cycle of the fundamentalists justifications and rationalizations to perpetrate atrocities against their fellow man all in the name of "god".
this is not holy.
this is not sacred.
there is no justification.
there can be no rationalization.
this is murder.
this is horror.
so look in to face of religious zealotry and know horror.

or maybe you would prefer a pretty face reading from a teleprompter?
and you can gasp in shock at the atrocity while never actually having to LOOK at it.
never having to come too close...
or see too much...
and while you may be aware there is evil in the world,
it is far away and no where near your tiny, safe and small little world.
if that is the case well then go back to sleep little one.
everything is ok in your little bubble of existence and the boogeyman resides far away from your shores.
go back to the mind numbing game shows and american idol.
go back to your 9 to 5 while your soul slowly bleeds out.
repost your favorite cat video on facebook and comment on some arbitrary and pointless poll and pat yourself on the back for your "contributions to society".
go back to sleep.

What Ke$ha sounds like without her precious autotune

mgittle says...

I agree that she doesn't sound completely terrible, just incredibly mediocre.

Just shows how bad all studio pop is when performed live (even if you're one that likes the album versions). In a strange way this actually makes me think more of American Idol...LOL.

Canned art...it's always bad.
