Colbert To Trump: 'Doing Nothing Is Cowardice'

newtboy says...

Yes, definitely.

Ok, I didn't actually look at exactly what they're selling. In the past, I've seen trigger mods that acted like a bump stock, 'bouncing' your finger on the springy hair trigger but without the springy stock. I don't know what they were called. I've also seen a 'gatling' thing that lets you turn a crank to rapidly bump the trigger, also don't remember the name. I'm sure there are others. Simple solution, ban anything that simulates auto fire in any way.

Hmmmm. Under certain circumstances, your conviction can be vacated and your record can be completely expunged. A judge told my dad that you can legally answer no to those questions after that, and vote, own guns, travel, etc. I hope that wasn't a setup! ;-)

Side note, but you wouldn't normally keep thousands of rounds all loaded in extended mags....and this guy didn't pinch any pennies either.

Either way, he brought plenty more than needed.

I googled 'rapid fire triggers'.

Geissele, Timney, Hypertouch, these are all normal triggers.
They are premium offerings. Smooth, low grit, low creep, clean crisp break.
They don't actually have any function that artificially increases rate of fire.
The marketing can fool you if you don't know what they are.
(It's like buying a "no name mouse" vs a "gamer mouse". One feels better, but you still click just as fast.)

Tac Con 3MR does have its own gimmick. It does a partial reset on every fire. Your finger still has to move forward and back to fire again, so you're still limited by your reaction time. In reviews it's no different than a normal trigger rate of fire wise.

4473 just asks if you've ever been convicted of a felony that could (not did) have had a 1 year sentence. That's a pretty broad set.

AFAIK, they all screw your right to vote. I could be wrong.

New Rule: Liberal States' Rights

bobr3940 says...

I believe he is right in speaking on state's rights but I think his example is not well thought out. He compares many of his and others views on rights and says that it's their turn to act like the rednecks in the 60s who wanted to maintain segregation. Well if he looks back at what happened he won't be too happy. The US government stepped in and said Nope ain't gonna happen and used the courts, military, and other resources to force the beginning of the end of segregation. So to carry his analogy to it's logical conclusion then the US government would step in and say Nope to their sanctuary cities, gay marriage, women's choice, and all of the other concepts he listed.

Like I said I believe in state's rights and agree with him in concept on what he was saying. Just think he used a very poor analogy to make his point.

Gaslighting: Abuse That Makes You Question Reality

TheFreak says...

Are you for real?

Do you not see that you are literally gaslighting by attempting to paint an individual, who organized a stunt aimed at intimidating another person in public, as the victim of the incident?

I don't even give a shit about gamergate or the feminism/anti-feminism celebrity battle that you, clearly, have taken a side on. I don't support anyone involved because all of the participants appear to be acting like asshats. But any objective viewer can see that one side made a bold move to aggressively provoke an opponent and succeeded in their goal of getting a response. It was bullying and abusive and it illicited an undignified response.

Let me reiterate, I am not your opposition in your crazy war. But I have to point out that it is a perplexing bit of mental acrobatics for you to attempt to perpetuate a false reality by accusing an intended victim of trying to perpetuate a false reality.

That's a clown move and if you had any integrity you would pause a moment for a little self examination.

What, like letting an abusive presenter at Vidcon off the hook and pillorying people she abused? Then saying that it wasn't exactly what it looked like in all the video footage, it was something else.

The Violent Left EXPOSED!

newtboy says...

So, @bobknight33, I can now show footage of Nazis shouting racist garbage and attribute it to ALL the right, yes? Because that's what this piece you've posted is. Any time you complain about that I'm just going to post a link to this post and negate your right to argue with your own post.

Finding the absolute worst of those calling themselves (or being called) 'far left' and claiming it's representative of the left as a whole. Do you not think any editor could easily create hours and hours of footage like this showing the right acting like inhuman savages, but they could include actual elected officials supporting the calls to violence and dehumanization, and just as easily attribute it all to some particular right wing organization or the right as a whole with some simple juxtaposition? Please.

This right wing trash pretends chants by a crowd or individuals are the same as an organizations platform, even when the organizations immediately and clearly denounce the chants and those shouting them. Isn't this what you complain about with the right being painted as Nazis and racists (although the right usually seems to take much longer to denounce them if ever), yet you go ahead and post the same tactic amplified from the other perspective.

I'm going to assume that, now that you're being called out on it, you'll thank me for pointing that out, and claim it was really a sly attempt to show us lefties how wrong our tactics are. This is not a genuine argument or tactic, as you would never take that stance unless you had already been called on the hypocrisy. Before that 'calling out', you appear to mean every word.

I'm calling you out, bob. This is some disingenuous garbage. You should be ashamed.

EDIT: BTW, Antifa people don't vote democrat. They think the democrats are right wingers, or at best corporate sell outs....just in case it's not feigned confusion.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Has A Blunt Message For Nazis

newtboy says...

I see, that was both unclear and unadvisable....but I'll play along.....
I think you misunderstand, they want reparations for a past theft that was never recouped or returned. The Nazis returned what they stole and paid dearly for their crimes, and they admit and have shame for the crimes of their nation/countrymen. Slave owners couldn't return the lost lives, families, property, or cultures, and largely didn't even try to pay compensation, and they and their descendants have acted like releasing the slaves WAS reparation AND just punishment for the kidnappers/slavers, so any further complaint is unjustified.

The sins of the father are the father's, but if the son takes the money dad stole and lives on it, knowing it's stolen, then the son is complicit. If my dad kidnaps your child and rapes it to death, and makes a fortune selling tickets to the event, I'm a complicit monster if I live on that money instead of giving it to you even if I wasn't born when he did it....no?

It's largely because the crimes have never been addressed and also because the victims are still, to this day, harassed and attacked as if they were the kidnappers rather than the victims.
If your mother was kidnapped, worked to death, and you were shunned and denied because of it, and so were your children and grandchildren, would you not want your great grandchildren to try to get justice for her from the people whose wealth was created by selling people like her? Would you not hold a grudge against them?

Considering the wrath provoked by niggling perceived slights against the right, can you even imagine how you and they would react if positions were reversed? I think they would demand deportation of the descendants of slave owners and forfeiture of all their assets, judging from recent behavior.

bobknight33 said:

I wanted to use this vid in a different manner. That is of how some Blacks and liberals think that white Americans OWE them for the past sins of the father.

The sins of our fathers are that of the father and not carried generationally.

With said Today Americans do not owe jack to ancestors of slaves.

American can just get along and move past BLM and all the white privilege BS that is being promoted by liberal outlets.

Ashland Cops Use Taser On Restrained 18 Year Old

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

These guys are acting like graduates from the Abu Ghraib school of policing. Agree that it's rare to see these videos - but this must happen A LOT and go undocumented.

bcglorf says...

Normally I 100% give the police every benefit of the doubt in these situations. I believe you are ignoring the important parts of this video though.

The kid didn't 'cop an attitude', refuse to comply, or 'flee' the scene. He was defensive from the start, and I don't think it's unjustified to be a bit put out to be interrupted from your work to be grilled about what your doing there and to prove who you are. The turning point you are missing is when the kid asks for supposed police officer to identify himself. The guy acting like an officer not only fails to do so, he immediately wants to handcuff the kid now all of a sudden. At this stage, the kid is supposed to back away. He has a guy in a uniform refusing to identify themselves, he shouldn't be expected to hang around.

It's not an offense or problem to 'refuse to comply' with someone that isn't a police officer.

It's not fleeing a scene when there is no police officer present, let alone an officer telling you that your being detained or under arrest.

The officer's refusal to identify himself should IMO mean that he isn't considered to be a police officer at all yet in how the public is expected to interact with him. That's a public safety requirement and the fact that the department PR video is lying and calling walking away from this interaction 'fleeing' is disgusting to me.

Oh, and for the record, if the officer DID identify himself, and then said the kid was being detained or under arrest then it all changes to me. Then the kid is 100% expected to comply, and the officer is allowed to use the force required to arrest and detain the kid. At the point if the arrest is an abuse of power or not is up the courts to decide. The important distinction is none of that actually happened, the PR meeting video acts as though the officer had identified himself and attempted to detain the kid. Fortunately the kid has video evidence showing that none of that actually happened. It is legitimately scary how easily and frequently an officer could do exactly this same stunt, and without it being on camera, he would get away with the whole thing.

bobknight33 said:

The kid seems to be trying to earn a honest living and soliciting neighbors by handing out cards. Some states require a solicitor to have a permit or such.

Generally I don't think the kid had to show ID but since he was technically soliciting maybe he does. I don't know.

The kid should have complied. He decided to cop an attitude.

@newtboy He gave false name and DOB that did not match his stated age, which caused suspicion. The kid finally fled. He had a warrant out on him for assault back in 2015

Officer Brandishing Weapon On ATV Motorist In North Pole

newtboy says...

No. The guy's not a cop, so acting like a cop by stopping the group was also totally wrong. He had no right to stop them in the first place, and absolutely no right to touch them or try to take their keys (what he seemed to be doing).

So...why were charges pressed against the accosted atv rider and not the gun waiving, officer impersonating prison guard? I'm sure it has something to do with color, I'm just not sure if it's brown or blue that skewed their reactions.

bobknight33 said:

The guy was right to confront the group.

Pulling the gun and the rest of it was where he was out of line.
Pressing charges -- yes -- it is the right thing.

The Disaster Artist - Teaser Trailer

oblio70 says...

Now knowing James Franco remained in character the WHOLE time, I just want to see the cast holding it in. Imagine, James Franco as Wiseau acting director, directing himself directing a movie wherein he acts like Wiseau in his acting role.

The rumors stated that not one new cast member cold keep it straight for their first hour or more on set dealing with "whoever the fuck he is...is he serious?"

Nigerian Slap Fight

I'm not generally into needless violence, but they both looked so damned happy and were clearly both willing to take a chance of being knocked out. The whole scene is so pressureless and so full of smiling, relaxed people, that none of this even seemed violent to me.

There's a certain type of person, often they'll be MMA practitioners, who just don't care about being knocked out, at all. Getting put to sleep is only a problem to them if you shit your pants while you're out. And from what i understand, it's seen as somehow a little unfair to mock someone for it, unless they were acting like a tough guy beforehand.

Lawyer Refuses to answer questions, gets arrested

Khufu says...

I don't think saying "hello, how are you?" and "no, I don't know why you pulled me over." are going to incriminate you... but it will make you look like a normal person with nothing to hide. Someone that sits there staring forward ignoring the cop like this lady just looks like they've come straight from robbing a bank.

This behavior reminds me of some friends when I was a teenager that would act suspicious in a dept store and then walk quickly for the exit so that security would chase them, and if caught they WOULD be innocent (and get to act like the victim), if not they get an adrenaline rush and a story.

If these cops had arrested this woman right away, THEN sure don't talk to them. But she jumped the gun and created the situation where she was being arrested from what looked like a routine traffic stop.(whether that was justified or not.)

I was stopped by a cop once on a freeway leaving a city and he said a car with the same description of mine had been stolen in the area. I showed my registration and he let me go on my way... If I had refused to say a word and just sat there, I would have looked very guilty and would probably have been arrested.

Again, stand-up comedy cutting through the bullshit:

We are debating between two horrific, criminal versions of healthcare designed to make people rich off of the pain and suffering of every American. Yes, Obamacare is better. Yes, Trumpcare is worse. Yes, I don’t care. By acting like this is a legitimate debate, we are subconsciously solidifying cultural hegemony for the idea that healthcare should be something exploited for profit. It should not. Stop dignifying that thought process.
