U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville

Oops. He says he didn't blow up a Saturn. Never worked on the moon missions, unmanned missiles only.

I asked him why he blew up the Titan. He said it was breaking up so he "sent the destruct signal to disperse the fuel" in the safe zone.

I gotta find out what that other big missile he blew up was. Taller than an Titan. All these years I thought it was a Saturn....

You like Saturns?

My dad blew one up. And a Titan.

He was a Range Safety officer with the Air Force in the late 1950's, early 60's. Would blow up missiles that were going off course, so the debris would fall in safe areas. Blew up LOTS of missiles.

I have a really cool image of his going away present when he left Cape Canaveral -- a cartoon with him astride a rocket, in space, over Cape Canaveral. There are silhouettes of all the missiles he blew up over his time there on the side of the rocket he is riding -- with hashmarks for HOW MANY he blew up.

It's really cool.

He BLEW UP A SATURN. Which isn't as powerful as the Titan he blew up!

O wow, long time no sift, sorry. Once my account got locked at work, I just never visited anymore.

But I got to head out to the rocket center for the random acts of intelligence show, it was pretty awesome. All the video here is just from one of the 2 building...so ya, worth a trip!

The Saturn was more amazing than I had imagined. I always knew it was big, but seeing it sprawled out on the ceiling is indescribable. Imagine a 30 story building filled with explosives, lit on fire and hurling itself into space...because that is what this is. I have lots of pictures if people want to see, I will surely share them.

Glad to see sift is still alive and well. The sift, specifically a video by @dag, basically changed the course of my life and I am now pursing a degree in nuclear engineering, so thanks for that. Anyway, if I can figure out a way to change my name, perhaps I can once again partake of some sift action.

Multiple Incarnations of the Simpsons

Now can anyone identify all of the anime characters? I'm not huge into anime but here are my guesses :

Bart is Naruto

Maggie is Pikachu

Marge might be Rangiku Matsumoto from Bleach?

Lisa is a character from Attack on Titan?

No clue about Santa's little helper or Homer.

BF4 megaldon easter egg!

Actually it's on "Paracel storm" one of the standard maps. You need to get 10+ people to stand on the buoy & it appears.

That said Naval strike has been pretty decent from what I've played of it so far (beats the hell out of china rising which was solidly meh). The return of titan mode is a welcome addition too (though I still miss 2142).

Alright maybe I do need that expansion.

Fox News - Noah's Ark Was Found, So Missing Plane Will Be

A10anis says...

Jeez...1; they didn't "find" Titanic. Its whereabouts were always known, it was an issue of the depth that had to be overcome.
And 2; Noah's ark, really???
Seriously, where do they get these people, the "Monty Python" school of broadcasters?

Pretty much my thoughts.

My guess is, the proprietary dedicated server they have is what's limiting the player count. That or the consoles themselves. I can't imagine ex-Infinity Ward developers would have included AI bots by design. They would have had to increase Titan cooldown to compensate with more players but that would have been an improvement in itself, as after the first few minutes, if you're any good you spend most of your time in one and the game plays like Mechwarrior. Not that that's bad, but it should be a novelty, not the norm for what is still an FPS.

Very disappointed by forced match-making as well. Now that both EA and Activision are doing it, I would hate it to become the standard even on PC. Odds are I will be playing CSS/TF2 for another 10 years it seems. Although even Valve is nudging us towards it now in TF2.

That and the huge inter-game downtime. Again, if TF2 can let you change loadouts mid-game and allow you to vote on the next map while you're in the previous one, I don't see why a game released nearly 7 years later struggles with this.

The beta featured only a selection of weapons, titans and maps. Those weren't actually three different titans, that was just the three default loadouts for one titan, the Atlas. And, there were custom loadouts even in the beta, with 5 customization slots and 3 mods for all of the primary weapons, you just had to reach a certain rank to unlock customization.

But, I was disappointed too, but mainly because it was a maximum of 12-player games, small maps, no server browser, no keyboard chat and no single-player. Honestly it gives the impression they designed it to be peer-to-peer multiplayer, then late in development switched it to dedicated servers, without actually leveraging any of the advantages of having dedicated servers.

Actually "beta"(more like demo with plausible deniability) had 2 titans. Atlas you know and Stryder as a rare burncard. Stryder has 3 dashes by default and it's core ability is unlimited dashes.

I found the beta pretty lacking. The terrible, forced AI bots, the mech combat is extremely simplistic. I'm an old mech warrior fan so I was majorly disappointed to find only 3 titans, and everyone uses the same one because it's clearly the best with no apparent way to customize them.

It's not a terrible game, it's just not remotely what I was hoping for.
