Every single Republican voted against tracking or countering Islamophobia like we do anti semitism.

Indeed Green ranted her support for Islamophobia, again publicly claiming all Muslims are terrorists and saying fear of any and all Muslims is reasonable. Not a single Republican disagreed. Many publicly agreed, accusing Omar of being a member of multiple terrorist organizations such as her religion.

Damn you people are so childishly ignorant and hypocritical it’s shocking.

Let's talk about a video for grown ups...

newtboy says...

I’m shocked school age children really still believe in Santa. WTF!?! I told my parents I knew he wasn’t real when I was 5.
My mother still sends me gifts from Santa anyway even though I’m 51.
Do kids really believe in giant egg hiding rabbits too? I never did. What the hell, people.
One more reason to not lie to children. How many reasons do parents need?

Do You Have An Unrelated Identical Twin?

lucky760 says...

Wait- there are actually real doppelgangers?

This is nuts.

Also funny coincidence: just today I was thinking about the movie Dave, where an ordinary guy became the stand-in for the president because he happened to look exactly the same.

And I was thinking, "Nah, that's way too far-fetched."

Then I come onto The Sift and see this video?!

Inside of an F4 tornado

vil says...

Historically first ever EF4 tornado in our country. The shock was such that basically everyone has new houses crowdfunded. 6 dead, not the people in the video.

Synchronized Reversing Ends in Rear End Collision

luxintenebris jokingly says...

surprised this doesn't happen more often. especially in parking lots. have seen cars pull out across from each other, and parallel to each other.

'tho seen something even more intriguing than this. after h.s. let out, two cars were diagonal across and backed out, mirroring each other completely. both drivers saw one another, reacted precisely at the same time but still touched bumpers.

no real damage, other than both car's passengers spilled out, while play-acting, holding their backs and necks, yelling "OH! MY BACK!" or "MY NECK!" and threatening to sue each other.

no one (nor the cars) suffered anything but embarrassment, shock, or amusement.

Denver cops refuse mandatory Covid vaccinations

newtboy says...

I was shocked to find out that likely 4/7 of the nurses at my wife’s work aren’t vaccinated. That’s insane. At least two are Q nutjobs, the other two Trumpists if not in the Q cult. Anecdotal, but it fits your hypothesis.

I hope that mandate comes soon, it’s just so dumb to have unsafe deniers working with the public, especially in health care.

They are waiting for the FDA to certify as something other than Emergency Use Authorization ("EUA")--Although they don't HAVE to wait for that; they could.

One thought? If you push the anti-vaxxer folks out of law enforcement--and this is just conjecture--I wonder if you would also be pushing out a certain proportion of folks with particular political and behavioral beliefs...

Lake Oroville Drought, California

luxintenebris jokingly says...

know and agree with that feeling. did a quick search and the story is remarkably similar to this article...

...and is not Oroville is also the same damn dam that had a problem w/their spillway structure collapsing recently?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WAGJyZ3j1k
[at least this link is 'human' generated]

So not a fun job, i.e. Oroville OverLord. Just think of he/she when you're getting Kind of Blue. Miles of problems for them. Whether the weather goes all rain or no rain, there's no 'So What' for them. Only hope for it to go Blue to Green so it isn't All Blues.

Upside: while it's dry the spillway is being repaired.
Downside: it may not be necessary

[...and the job could lead to empty hours of boredom, only to fall to the temptation of getting the drawing crayons out to do Flamenco Sketches; dreaming where they could be, and what they could be doing.]

What is with these weird generated news stories using text-to-speech? It feels icky taking them at face value. The images could be total bunk since there are no attributions or anything.

I'm not suggesting the drought is fake, I'm just saying this is one of the worst sources that can be posted.

Rick and Morty S5:E1

spawnflagger says...

I wouldn't judge it based on this new episode, but previous seasons (especially 2 & 3) were entertaining. It's formulaic, so lost it's shock-factor, but there are some long-term character development as well.

I couldn't get into the series in the past like its first episode. Would I like it now?
