Trump Holds Rally Amid Aftermath of Family Separation Policy

bobknight33 says...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_America_News_Network

The formation of the organization was announced on March 14, 2013 by Herring Networks, Inc., an independent and family-owned national video programming company owns and operates OAN and sister channel AWE (formerly WealthTV; the initialism being an acronym for "A Wealth of Entertainment"). When the network began in 2013 it had a limited partnership with The Washington Times.[1]

The network launched with the intention of targeting a conservative-leaning audience with OAN President Charles Herring telling CPAC that, “Fox News has done a great job serving the center-right and independent audiences...But those who consider themselves liberal have a half dozen or more choices on TV each day from which to get their news.”[8] Herring also stressed the network's separation of news and opinion content, with straight news reporting throughout the day and limited opinion commentary from evening talk shows, including The Daily Ledger hosted by Graham Ledger and The Tipping Point hosted by Liz Wheeler. Early advertisements for the channel touted the network's lack of commentary and focus on straight news reporting.[9] The channel was formally launched on July 4, 2013.

As of August 2017, One America News Network reached 35 million homes and had nationwide distribution from DirecTV, DirecTV Now, Verizon FiOS TV, AT&T U-verse, Frontier Communications, CenturyLink PRISM TV, and numerous regional video distributors.[10]

Seriously, though, I wanted to come back to this: the American site that hosts the One America News network hosts very few other channels. It sounds tin foil hat to say that it's Russian propaganda, but those channels include a few soccer networks, more propaganda news bullshit, three Sony movie channels and oh! what's this?

Latvian Firefighters Catch Attempted Suicide

eric3579 says...

From the Latvian National Fire and Rescue Service,Translated by Google...

"During the weekend, the VUGD received a call to a multi-apartment building where there was a suspicion that a person was going to jump through the fourth floor window. When arriving at the scene, firefighters rescuers realized that if they were trying to get into the apartment, one would most likely jump over the window. Thanks to the support of the neighbors, firefighters were able to enter the steep lowk in the apartment and prepare to grab this person in the fall. While one firefighter rescuer was waiting for a fall at the window, the other ensured that the interceptors could rescue the falling person firmly. Meanwhile, firefighters with mountaineering equipment tried to access people on the sill from the roof of the building, but the rescuers noticed that human hands had fallen and dropped. The firefighters below were able to catch the fallen people behind their feet and safely pass through the window. "

I read on reddit, that the news reported, that the firefighters were on the third floor.

16 seconds: The Killing of Anita Kurmann

newtboy says...

True, but that's not all it says....
The presence of human fatality is acceptable and not considered "snuff" if presented as a limited, incidental portion of a lengthy educational, informative news report or documentary that encompasses a much broader narrative. Our definition of "snuff" does include but is not exclusive to any short clip in which a human fatality occurs whether or not any victims are actually visible on camera.

As the fatal accident was the central point of the video and not incidental, and the video may or may not be considered lengthy and or news, I thought it a reasonable question to pose to the community.
To clarify, it was intended as a question not an accusation.

According to the FAQ, snuff is defined as the depiction of loss of human life for the purposes of entertainment. Human fatalities alone do not define "snuff".

Does it bother any one else to hear politicians and news reporters incorrectly calling things "machine guns," "assault rifles" and "clips?" It makes them look ignorant, just like watching Fox News report on anything scientific.

Machine guns are primarily support weapons for sustained automatic fire. They usually have an active or passive cooling mechanism to prevent the barrel from overheating during sustained fire.

An assault rifle is a rifle which has a select fire mechanism that allows it to switch from semi-auto to burst or full automatic fire. An assault rifle can overheat if fired fully automatic (or even semi-automatic) without letting it cool, which can lead to failure of the weapon (if you can even hold on to it when it's that hot).

A magazine is simply something that holds bullets. Guns can have internal magazines or external detachable magazines. A clip is a mechanism used to load bullets into a magazine.

John Oliver - Sweden and Undercovered Stories

newtboy says...

Where to start? You're provably wrong on every single point you made.

It's actually been made clear he mistook a political anti-immigrant interviewee and clips from their movie (already debunked, btw) he watched on Fox for a news report on crime in Sweden.

2016 Swedish crime surveys showed a stable crime rate over the last decade, no marked rise. This was just one of the falsehoods in the movie/interview, and a good example of why getting his "information" from Breitbart and Fox and discarding the intelligence community as political opponents is treason level incompetence.

The vast majority of voters don't, and didn't support him. He lost the election, bigly, he only won the electoral college.

There are so many reasons he's a disaster to talk about that we need every mouth available on the job. ;-)

Uh, pretty sure it's been made clear Trump was referring to the marked rise in crime among the immigrant population there relative to before the recent migrations into Sweden. Seriously, it's this sort of liberal bias even in humor that got Trump elected. Keep pissing off the majority of voters like this and it's just gonna get worse. Would someone please shut John Oliver and Bill Maher the hell up so more rational liberal analysts can properly explain why Trump is not good for the country?

These people/trolls stating the kid faked it must police all the new videos and tell us what really is happening cause obviously the chopper news reporters were fake newsers (TM) thus not making him "the" story although the Bugs Bunny comment was hilarious.

This is how fast fire can spread. Warning: disturbing

noims says...

Yes, that's one of the reasons I held off posting it. It's the part that's stuck most strongly in my mind. I checked the posting rules carefully, and they say:

[...]not considered "snuff" if presented as a limited, incidental portion of a lengthy educational, informative news report or documentary that encompasses a much broader narrative

So I don't think I'm violating the spirit or letter of the rules. That also matches with my own judgement of what I would or wouldn't want to see, which was the other reason I wasn't sure about posting. It's also why I put an nsfw tag, a warning in the title, and used a full un-edited copy (there are several that are parts of tv shows that sensationalise it a bit much for my comfort).

In the end, I personally think the educational value far outweighs the disturbing elements, but I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking otherwise.

Nice kitchen dude, why are you talking to your refrigerator? Is this like the "underground" of news reporting, so the "censors" dont catch you? Is it that bad in the USofA now?

Is it now OK to steal and expose private e-mails of people in any public office? Because 2016? Seriously?

What NEWS is in those e-mails that makes them worth ranting about?

The general idea of "she sucked up to banks in those undisclosed private speeches and is soft on them in general" is old news. Everyone has known that ever since she first undisclosed them.

The general idea of discussing tactics, yes even dirty tactics, in private, before deciding if they are moral and practical and should be used publicly - is that news?

The general idea of Hillary being a not very good actress (some would say "two faced *****") - is that news?

What NEWS is in those e-mails? I dont want to yawn just yet but this is leading up to a big yawn.

"The Political News Media Lost Its Mind"

Ugh. I really dislike Hillary. And I really dislike that the alternative is... Trump.

(I'm also starting to dislike the way that much of the news-reporting is framed as an attempt to persuade, rather than to inform.)
