I have tried to ignore this user, to no avail. We agreed together to no longer 'private message' each other on our profile page long ago, an agreement Ching was wholly unable to fulfill, as he constantly posts outrageous, insulting, vulgarity filled private messages to my profile (and in public in response to most of my comments, which he seems pathologically incapable of not insulting or degrading with outrageous vulgarity and vitriol). Sometimes he realizes he has gone way too far and tries to edit away the vulgar insults before they're immortalized, which is at least in part what hobbling is about right? Ching is unable to not personally insult, personally attack, or to be reasonable or respectful for more than one short post at a time (followed by at least a day of ranting insults, attacks, and vulgarity).
I often do comment about Ching's behavior/posts, but not his person. I don't know him, I only know his actions here.
I've also been a sifter since near the onset of the site, and I've never been banned! I just didn't sign up for a membership for years while I 'lurked'. I don't see how that makes a difference, this is about behavior. Ching's behavior is far beyond site guidelines....until now I've let that slide with only my words to him in response. Because he is now ramping it up again, any further "private" message, or trolling my comments will have me begin a push for actual action against Ching. He's just getting out of control and his vitriol is building. He alone is making the sift a far less pleasant place for many.
Consider this, I or others may be on the autism spectrum, is ridiculing the mentally challenged with vulgarity and personal insult proper or respectful?

As well as the adoption of the euphemism, I find it interesting that this is getting portrayed as "saved by the gun". Which is nothing close to the truth. The gun allowed the victim to get revenge, but it didn't protect him from the attack. Had the taser not malfunctioned, his gun would have been useless or worse, stolen and used against him.

It points out the weakness of the "guns as defense" claims...by definition, the attacker gets to make the first move. So unless you have your gun in your hand at all times, and are willing to shoot anyone you think suspicious, a gun will not prevent an attack. It -does- certainly provide incentive for the attacker to make his attack as lethal as possible, so that the victim has no second-strike capability.

Even if this was a malfunction, they showed that they could switch from reverse to drive - which means they could slam it in park. And yeah, I didn't see brake lights coming on...

I have always wondered why so many people who've used psychedelic drugs think the hallucinations are somehow more real than their normal perceptions.

I can appreciate that hallucinations can give you ideas you'd never otherwise think of. I can see where an artist might benefit from something like that. Even dreams can do this on occasion.

When it comes to understanding reality, it seems to me that our senses are already so inadequate. How can causing them to malfunction be helpful to perception?

My ability to ignore the infinitesimal possibility of a malfunctioning gravity well is entirely a result of me having bigger fish to fry. It is not rigorously justified, it is merely a practical concession to my finite mind. It is indeed technically fallacious and yet it has been completely accurate so far. That may very well be the limited scope us humans have to deal with.

You have not demonstrated that there must be absolute knowledge provided to us, because you have not provided an example of anything in this world that is inconsistent with an uncertain universe, nor have you shown an instance of us relying on reasonable assumptions failing in some unexpected manner.

The argument is intended to show that we all treat it as absolute knowledge in reality, and that without absolute knowledge, you don't know anything. Therefore, you live in contradiction to what you actually believe, and what you experience, and that God is the only actual way to make sense of your reality. You say you do just fine by assuming what is contrary to reason, because it works for you. Well, that's what you accuse me of doing, isn't it?

You don't see how knowing that God exists would be better than not knowing? If God exists and you don't know it, it means you are ignorant of everything that matters. It means you don't know why you're here, what you're supposed to do, and how you can achieve your greatest potential.
