Even if you don't put a 4-way stop, could certainly have a solar-powered (battery at night) LED "flasher" on the stop signs that would blink when detects movement on main road. A raspberry-pi has enough cpu power. Might cost $20k to install a pole to mount 2 cameras and solar panel(s). This "blinking stop sign" would be so rare, that it would catch drivers attention and they'll be more likely to stop.
(I'm not suggesting raspberry pi are reliable enough for this application, but my point is the computer vision can be done in < 10W, which can easily be handled by a solar panel, even in England)

I think the load crushed the grey control box (next to the telephone pole), so they went to the default flashers like most are designed to do in a malfunction.

Meh, He's not bitter... I watched a helldesk guy rip his headphones off. Open the bottom drawer in the desk. yell in to the mic "You're in the penalty box!" slam the headset in to the drawer and slam it shut and walk out of the building... He had spent an hour trying to help a lost cause.

FYI, there are a number of high-end cars that have this built-in. BMW has different versions across a lot of their cars, and calls it the 'Brake Force Display'.

BMW found it was less distracting and more intuitive for other drivers if the brake force was indicated by a few stages of big lights going on (3 or 4), with the last stages also having one or all of the brake lights slowly flash in the 'hazard light' mode if you really slammed the brakes.

Motocyclists also commonly buy aftermarket flasher modules that indicate when they are braking heavily, which you can find on amazon.

Ya the truckers should be driving like 30mph with their flashers on. Even if it is too slow for conditions everyone would slow it up when they do. 40% of accidents in these conditions involving a semi kills someone and rarely is it the truck driver.

Did that truck put on it's emergency flashers after it stopped?

I don't, not when they're coming up behind me. Also it's bullshit they're not supposed to go into the other lane, they always come in behind you and wait for you to pull over where I'm from. Hell I barely ever hear the sirens sometimes.

Why is a man hitting a woman in a "friendly" environment so much worse than the rest? In abusive environments, all of those are bad, but women aren't inherently bigger victims than the rest.
