So yeah, there's Mad Men. There's also Dexter. Deadwood. The Wire. All FAR superior to trashy Lost.

Hell, I can even say with complete confidence that, as far as writing and season-arching-storylines (and non-moronic characters that actually talk to each other, you know, about STUFF) are concerned, Eureka (sci-fi adventure-comedy) and Bones (anthropological crime-solving-comedy), are also incomparably better than Lost.

We lost Deadwood for John From Cincinnati. There's no justice.

Omfg, you're right. I watched the entire series and not once did I ever recognize him as Warren.

Such an outstanding show in every conceivable way.

The first series has a special feature commentary on the language used in the show. To summarize, the creator was well aware that the language was anachronistic but wanted to paint Deadwood's characters as 'beyond the boundaries' of civil society. As MrFisk alluded, the foulest language at the time was blasphemous. To our modern ears, however, goldarnit doesn't have the same ring as co#%&@cker. Fantastic show, shame HBO balked on the fourth season.

^ No shit. Anyone who saw even just the first episode could tell that there was a lot more going on in the plot than just swearing. Deadwood has a lot of swearing but the rest of it is sheer brilliance, with incredible acting and hooking plot progression. Ian McShane alone makes the series worth watching and re-watching.

Note also that Charlie calls Wolcott a cunt, when, in the first season, Jack McCall, played by the same actor, is also called a cunt by Wild Bill Hickok, Charlie's friend. So I guess you could say he's a metacunt.

Brad Dourif was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for this role. He lost to George Burns, which, if you're going to lose, you should lose to a legend.

DFT is dead right about this. Why is this objectionable, but the countless videos on the sift of people getting beaten (both real and fictional) people fighting a cop, violent shootouts, gruesome violence, swearing, swearing and more swearing -- these are all okay, but show a boob and suddenly it's "OH WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN! THIS ISN'T A SITE I WANT ANY PART OF! OBSCENITY! OBSCENITY!" It's bullshit, and it's hypocrisy. Either get rid of every video I just linked to (and, as I'm sure you are aware, I barely scratched the surface), or put this back.

As for this video being nothing but two people having sex -- No. No. No it isn't. I shouldn't even have to defend it for the reasons I just mentioned, but no no no. I think this is a really great teaser. I love the way the music works so well with the visuals (something Kubrick is a master at), how the song slowly builds as the camera zooms in. I love the way it keeps cutting to the names with that particular font. I think it's pretty great, and not AT ALL in bad taste. It is no less valid than any other trailer or teaser, of which there are many on the sift.

If this were a website for children I would completely agree with you, but I think it's pretty clear that it isn't, and for some stupid reason ANY amount of adult content is okay here UNLESS it involves even the vaguest hint of sexuality. Bullshit. Complete and utter bullshit.
