All Transformers Intros 1984 - 2016

SDGundamX says...

The dates for the original series openings are off. For example, they're listing the 3rd version of the original series opening as from 1984 but it showcases both Unicron and Galvetron, who both made their first appearances in the Transformers feature animated film in 1989.

Similarly, the 2nd version of the original series opening (also dated 1984) showcases Omega Supreme, who doesn't show up until Season 2 (1985-1986) in the U.S.

Also, suggesting the lame Gobots had anything to do with Transformers is fucking NERD HERESY (yes, I am aware Hasbro tried to retcon the Gobots as existing in the Transformers universe)!

Answer To "Most Muslims Are Peaceful".

newtboy says...

If 300000000 were dedicated to the destruction of western civilization, it would be destroyed today.

Her contention that the peaceful majority is irrelevant means we must be in fear of and at war with every group we could name, because they all have radicals. That's simply asinine.

She is really angry about this question.
There are MANY Islamic peace movements, contrary to their implications that this single woman is it. Just a few below.

Islamic Peace Movement UK, more widely known as Islamic Movement UK or IMUK, is the largest Islamic organisation in the UK.[1] It was formed in 1989 in Leeds by Mohammed Kilyam

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (Mir-za Mas-roor Ah-mad) is the fifth Khalifa (Caliph) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

Spearhead by the Muslim Peace Coalition, 100 New York Imams in the spring of 2011 stood together to issue an historic statement that established the link between wars at home and wars abroad.

Cop Maces Bikers As They Ride By On The Freeway

Mordhaus says...

I think they were referring to this portion:

(1) vacate the lane closest to the emergency vehicle when driving on a highway with two or more lanes traveling in the direction of the emergency vehicle

However, I can tell you that on a stopped police car, I have never seen someone follow this rule in Texas and I've been driving here since 1989. I would also add that the penalty for breaking this law is a misdemeanor, it doesn't specify in the statute that the officer should use a weapon on the drivers that might cause them to wreck and create havoc.

Um....I think you left something out. What does the statute say?

Kenny Everett being challenged by Sinead O'Connor

Engels says...

Ok, uhm, this is all fine and well, but why are we digging up clips from 1989? Is there some topical issue here? It reminds me of when the wife brings up a slight from back in 1992 when I forgot to put the toilet seat down on that one Tuesday night, you know, that one time?

Megyn Kelly on Fox: "Some things do require Big Brother"

Trancecoach says...

Debunking the notion of "herd immunity," this doctor provides evidence for how the vaccines themselves can cause the person to develop measles and, itself, become the source of an outbreak.
Yet another problem coming as the result of patent laws and FDA-bred cronyism in the vaccine business..

In terms of "Big Brother," the United States government has paid more than $3 billion to victims of vaccines since 1989, according to the National Vaccine Injury Compensation (VICP).

Stay With Me - Vintage 1940s "Old Hollywood" Style Sam Smith

antonye says...

Digging up an old post because I just saw this:
http://consequenceofsound.net/2015/01/tom-petty-awarded-songwriting-royalties-for-sam-smiths-stay-with-me/

"Tom Petty awarded songwriting royalties for Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me”"

“Recently the publishers for the song ‘I Won’t Back Down,’ written by Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne, contacted the publishers for ‘Stay With Me,’ written by Sam Smith, James Napier and William Phillips, about similarities heard in the melodies of the choruses of the two compositions. Not previously familiar with the 1989 Petty/Lynne song, the writers of ‘Stay With Me’ listened to ‘I Won’t Back Down’ and acknowledged the similarity.

“Although the likeness was a complete coincidence, all involved came to an immediate and amicable agreement in which Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne are now credited as co-writers of ‘Stay With Me’ along with Sam Smith, James Napier and William Phillips.”

I liked this song better when it's sung by Tom Petty and called "Won't Back Down."

Racism in the United States: By the Numbers

bobknight33 says...

Slavery is irrelevant to the plight of the black man today.

All people have equal chance at freedom for the last 50 years.

Most poor folks would rather take government handouts than lift themselves out of poverty. If I was in that position I suppose I would also take the handout.

Democratic policies and Democratic control of major cities have destroyed the black community

Out of the 10 poorest cities
Five cities have been led by Democrats for more than 45 years.
Two other cities, Miami, El Paso, have never had Republican mayors. Not ever.

Poverty
Rank City Democrat
Since
1 Detroit, MI 1961
2 Buffalo, NY 1954
3 Cincinnati, OH 1984
4 Cleveland, OH 1989
5 Miami, FL forever
6 St. Lewis, MO 1949
7 El Paso, TX forever
8 Milwaukee, WI 1908
9 Philadelphia, PA 1952
10 Newark, NJ 1907

Democratic policies and Democratic control of major cities have destroyed the black community.

If you want to help end racism and help black communities turn around then stop voting democrat.

If black americans really do have any kind of tendency towards being poorly educated or poorly civilised, is it because they have only very recently been allowed to have any education or any part in civilisation. And i'm not necessarily willing to accept that premise, because there similarly plenty of white americans who are also extremely poorly educated and poorly civilised. I know that because i caught honey boo-boo on TV once. It doesn't help that your legal system is inherently racist as evidenced by the shocking prison statistics for black americans; whitey made sure that 'black people' crime is highly punishable and 'white people' crime isn't. Just listen to what this man has to tell you.

Your advice to someone who lives in bad area is "Buy a house in a nice area?" OMFG I NEVER THOUGHT OF THIS!!! Why don't starving people in third world countries just move house? Why don't people who live in warzones move? Why don't the Palestinians just move? Why don't isolated, terrified old ladies move out of dangerous apartment blocks and council estates? Why don't abused women just leave their husbands? Why don't abused children just run away and tell a policeman? Why don't .... you just shut the fuck up? Honestly, better to keep silent and have people think you're stupid and racist than to share your blindingly idiotic comments and remove all doubt.

They are born there, they can't afford to move, they are supporting family who live there (and can't afford to move), they can't get a job anywhere else, they can't go to school anywhere else, there's no one particularly educated amongst them to help them out? Any of the above and millions more reasons (that i don't know because i never experienced it, nor did you)?

Black people were treated like sub-humans, murdered in the street without comment and for no particular reason, beaten, tortured, forced to work, forced to fight, bred for strength and most of all.... kept in the fucking dark about everything, because stupid slaves are easier to control.

Generation after generation of being bred for work traits; intelligence systematically discouraged. So anyone who's around now was raised by people who were raised by people with no education, property or hope through no fault of their own. Add to that inherent racism as explained CLEARLY to you by this video. So the black people today are a product of their environment. And in a way, that excuses you for being a disgusting, poorly-educated, ignorant racist because the apple never falls far from the tree... and you're not worth any more of my time.

16 inch gun training of an Iowa class Battleship

ELee says...

Interesting. I just reread info about the 1989 explosion in turret 2 of the battleship Iowa that killed 47 sailors. Looks like it was due to over-ramming unstable powder as part of an unauthorized 'experiment' using 5 bags of the wrong powder instead of the standard 6. Of course, the Navy covered all this up and blamed a sailor for killing everyone.

Further data points: Anders Breivik was unable to purchase weapons on the black market, and utilised legally obtainable weapons instead. If he was unable to obtain them legally, he might not have been able to obtain them at all.

Monkseaton, 1989 (legally owned gun stolen by family member)
Dunblane, 96 (legally owned)

Um.. no...

But... okay....

So how would you make the law more "decent?"

And what evidence do you have that the "decency" of the law (any law!) prevents "psycho boys" from doing whatever the law prohibits (but doesn't preclude the "heros" from saving lives in spite of it)? Hm?

US spies on allies for business intel, not national security

radx says...

Industrial espionage? No shit, Sherlock.

May I point out that "Der Spiegel" published classified information about the stations Bad Aibling, Teufelsberg and Gablingen in 1989, thereby revealing how these stations were used to spy on West German politicians and corporations? Does anybody think the Special Collection Service set up shop in Frankfurt and Berlin to spy on the North Koreans?

We've been on the receiving end of this since 1945, and we know it. There are no friends among nations, there are only interests.
