shooting up in vain-a junkies story

a very public and honest story told by the man himself as he shoots up.
and the cycle becomes a self prophecy.
i live in an area where it has garnered the number one slot for painkiller/xanax related deaths and i deal with many of them.
and their story has so many similar elements as this mans.
tragic..just tragic.

love breaks the addiction. good luck finding it though

love and forgiveness my friend.
very powerful in their ability to heal but you are correct.
hard to find.
for two main reasons in my opinion.
1.the addicts own self-loathing and feelings of unworthiness.
2.peoples judgmental aversion to someone so obviously broken.in this societies perception of choice/consequence along with the seriously flawed 'pull yourself up by your boot-straps" mentality.the addict is blamed, judged and left to suffer for their choices, all the while ignoring the huge elephant in the room:who among us aspires to be a junkie?

it is that first step of recognizing that person as a human being worthy of love, compassion and understanding that can be so very powerful to begin the long and arduous path to wellness.

right on @marinara
