The writer and singer of the song is an atheist and many of his songs deal with religion from an atheist view...so more accurate then lame.

StormsingerHonestly Max, I think that's part of the charm. And it's -definitely- part of the humor. "But the lyrics are dodgy." struck me as making as much fun of his own song as it was of the standard Christmas carols...kind of a pot-meet-kettle line. Not to mention that almost all of his songs sound that way, or at least all of them that stick in my head.
