What the future will be like -- as imagined in 1969

Surprisingly accurate in some ways.

^The hair rollers weren't exactly showing her at her best.

I liked the comedy value of the girl who descends the stairs - <clack><clack><clack>, <beeeep> <looks at device and then up the stairs again>.

Interesting predictions though how they though people would use such shitty interfaces and keyboards is beyond me.

I find it interesting how accents seem to have changed. Although I may be believing the actors as too representative...

If this is actually from the 60s then it's damned prophetic. I reckon peoples' only mistake about communication of the future is the idea of video calls becoming staple. It prevents multitasking.

Actually I am pretty impressed with the quality of predictions in the video. Broadband cable to the home, video links, etc. Not bad if you didn't expect a Moore's law increase in digital processing capability. (That 'network computer option 20 = home purchase calculation' is pretty funny.)

In contrast, I saved an 'information technology technology forecast' report produced for the U.S. government in the late 1970's.

The 1970's prediction for the year 2000? "ULTRA-high-speed punched card readers."

It makes you wonder how misguided our own prophecies for technology in 2049 are today. Perhaps a guess at "ultra-high speed computers" would be just as inaccurate as the "ultra-high speed punch card readers" was 40 years ago.
