The topic of bad girlfriend/wife presents always reminds me of the gift Homer bought Marge for her birthday. Do you remember that episode?

He gave her a bowling ball, which doesn't seem romantic at first, but he had it custom fit and engraved... It was sized to fit his hand and engraved "Homer".

I'm probably off on this one, but I think it may be that his girlfriend actually wanted the outfit that was on the mannequin, not the mannequin itself.

How can this be #1? I just don't get this Phil Dunphy brand of humor, this bland delivery of deliberately clueless shit. At least he edited out the parts where Phil usually stares at the camera, with the silence as some sort of punchline.
