A teaser for the trailer for Warcraft. The full actual trailer comes out Friday 6 November 2015.

It better be good. I'm not too worried yet since Blizz wouldn't let them fuck this up or they'd have scrapped it. Plus, if it does well my ATVI stock will jump up like it did today when Activision/Blizz released their Q3 report today; free money.

It saddens me immensely to see the director of Moon reduced to this.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's all a massive setup for an awesome meta-narrative head fuck and it's actually a movie length version of The Guild.

Or it might even be that mythical thing: a good video game movie.

But I would still rather see Duncan Jones talents put to work elsewhere.

Did you read the rest of my comment?

I acknowledged that I could very well be wrong. But this shows me nothing that makes me want to see it, and frankly it looks like a fairly boring retread of the last hobbit movie.

Oh and let's not forget that Warcraft is not exactly known for its story.

Wow, that is really condescending without knowing anything about the movie...

Acknowledging that you may be wrong does not mean you were not being incredibly condescending.

Will this be the next Citizen Kane? No. And no one is asking it to be. It has the potential to be a well crafted summer blockbuster. And no, a big budget blockbuster is not inherently inferior to a small indie movie like Moon. Duncan Jones did not base himself to make a movie for the masses. It's that kind of elitist attitude that is condescending.

And no, you cannot comment on the quality of the movie based on a 15 second teaser, so far before release. All it shows is that Duncan Jones respects the source material, at least visually.

And as for Warcraft not being known for its story? Well, they made a good movie out of a Disney theme park ride, so anything can happen.

Fair point about Pirates of the Caribbean (the first one, at least).

As for the quality, I never said it wouldn't be a quality picture. I'm sure it will be well executed.

But we have HEAPS of big summer blockbusters and fuck all clever sci-fi like Moon, so I'd rather see Duncan Jones doing something more interesting than this.

And OF COURSE I can comment on a movie based on a teaser. If that's all they put out, that's all I can comment on, and what I see here is IMO, a waste of a good director.

If you find that condescending, that's your problem.

Yeah, this was just a teaser - the actual trailer comes out at the end of this week I believe.

Actually, this is dead wrong. Many people consider Warcraft III to have one of the best stories ever put to gaming, myself included. We'll obviously see how well that works in a film.

I know, and I will happily change my opinion then if I see something that merits it.

Fair enough, I haven't played Warcraft 3. Opinion was based on Warcraft and general gaming knowledge.

Regardless of how this movie pans out, he's doing Mute next... I'm still not clear if it is takes place in the Moon universe or not. I know Sam Rockwell will have a cameo in Mute...

Lawdeedawsays...

Not really dead wrong but that was a great story. Others have not been so great.
