Most Advanced Car Cassette Player Ever Made (1988)

(youtube) Here is my 1st youtube post - this is one of the most advanced car cassette players ever made. This is the 1988 mark II version with fluorescent graphic equalizer. I was lucky enough to aquire this in Hong Kong in 1992. It is a component unit which requires individual front and rear amps to drive the speakers. Hence why I had to wait this long to have it installed.

Dude, it's 2013. I think it's ok to take the protective plastic film off now. You got it through a quarter-century without a scratch. Time to let go.

I was fully expecting this to be a bait-and-switch with it just being a cassette faceplate with an intricate touchscreen solid-state memory all-in-one system underneath.

Kenwood always had nice technologies, good UIs, were very quick to adapt new standards, but they were always a horrible sounds quality.

Had a 64 Dodge Dart with a simple old-tech Kenwood cassette-only player, no vol controls, etc., via external amp, came with the car. It began to drag and stall in cold weather but I could spray butane into it and ignite it and that was enough to free-up the capstan and cause it to play until it dragged again in about an hour.

....carried butane in the car to refill the Colibri-

I had a 17 dollar portable boombox in the back of my 1989 mercury sable, which belted out horrible sound all the time. Luckily my tastes ranged from Tool and Metallica and Sevendust and not much else.
