It's funny just how awesome this game is when it is so simple/user-empowered. I want to see him optimize his code and start working with the Dwarf Fortress guy and combine ideas. DF + simplified with minecraft's engine optimized & an isometric perspective like Populous/Civ would be amazing.

That's why you should build near your spawn point - if you get too lost, you can jump off a cliff or present yourself to the zombies, and you'll respawn near your house.

I got lost in my world and can't find my way back to my stockpile.

I built away from my spawn, but eventually, after dying a few times at night thanks to my spawn point having bad guys all around it, I built a thing up around it then connected it via a long hallway/tunnel to my main structure.

I don't get it. So is it just snow or no snow?

If you travel far enough in a new world, you'll discover snow areas, desert areas, wooded areas. I would guess that whenever the engine has to spawn a new "chunk" there's a chance that it will divert from the norm.

Check the Wiki for instructions on building a compass. It is great for keeping your bearings, especially in complicated cave systems.

Word up. I had a compass (admittedly never used it), but it was lost when a skeleton murdered me. I have two long homes in rock faces fairly close to one another, but I get turned around easily.

Use the compass, blankfist. I know, I know.

I am looking forward to Biomes more than the Hell/Slip/Core/Neither part.
It would be nice if you could craft a new spawn point, where only one can be built or active... Reset it at your base then use the compass to get back to it.
