I never did watch this " movie" is it worth it ? is it a musical ? I dont like musical movies, I always feel wierd when they dance and sing. uncomfortable if you will.

It's a rock opera, more or less. Much like Tommy, Jesus Christ Superstar, or Hair. It's definitely -not- much like the traditional 50's musical...there's not all that much dancing.

I was introduced to the movie in an apparently unusual way. First, my friends hooked me on the soundtrack (it's still one of my favorite albums)...once I'd grown to love that, I finally managed to get around to seeing the movie.

I'd never have guessed that Susan Sarandon had such a nice voice.

@BoneRemake:

If you like fabulously bad films, especially ones that are purposefully fabulously bad, and you like 50's monster/invader movies (a genre stocked with fabubad films) you'll probably want to watch it, yes. A lot of it's funny. Oh, and they kill Meatloaf,and you can never get too much of that I always say.

The only way you will truly "experience" this film is in a theater (preferably a midnight showing). Bring toast.

It is indeed a wholly different experience at a live showing, compared to watching it at home. Even this little clip seems wrong, without a crowd dubbing lines for Rocky ("Unhh!").

I myself would recommend bringing newspaper rather than toast, in self-defense. Toast, rice and squirt-guns are really for more advanced aficionados. And of course, costumes are only for the truly hardcore.
