Induction Heating of Block Ice = Glowing Red Hot Ice

Nice arguments regarding what is happening over at YouTube. Is the ice heating up faster than it can melt? Are there metallic impurities in the cube causing it to glow? Would Gluonium ever come back and explain this? Should we start a Gluonium pole?

What little consensus there is on youtube leans towards there being an imbedded piece of metal, a bolt or some such. The demo is supposed to show that this furnace can heat the metal to a high temperature without directly heating the ice...which is what induction furnaces -do- after all.

Truth is, the video doesn't give enough of a preliminary view or enough angles to be sure what's happening. The main piece of information you have to go by is that it happened at a trade show...any real cheating would tend to have some rather serious financial effects on the company.

That never stopped Nintendo, Microsoft, nVidia, and others from outright faking new products in the past.

(Still remembers the infamous "Nintendo 64" demo that was just a powerful SGI workstation under the table covered by a skirt)
