Hudson Cop Rescues Deer Tangled In Christmas Lights

YouTube Description:

Police are often asked to perform some unusual andchallenging jobs. Hudson Police Officer, Kevin Sweet, got to use some "off duty" skills when he visited his mother's home Tuesday morning. Sweet was greeted by a young deer wrapped tightly in Christmas lights. The lights were drapped around its legs and neck. Clearly, the deer didn't know what to do and was in distress.

The veteran cop, armed with only his IPhone and knife, slowly made his way to the shocked deer. Sweet comforted the deer by talking calmly...while trying to free the deer.

Sweet captured this unusual confrontation and rescueon his IPhone.Later in the day, and on duty, Sweet tells us about his deer rescue.

I can't be sure, but that deer looked pretty young. I wonder if it had been abandoned by it's mother after getting caught in the lights, (or when the cop showed up with a knife). This seemed like a case where animal control probably should have been called and/or consulted. The deer may be injured or abandoned, so letting it 'free' might not be the best thing to do for it.
I'll just hope I'm wrong and it's just a small species of deer that was stiff and not a hurt baby one.

Damn you! I was all happy thinking the deer went on his way and all was well. But noooo, you had to chime in and fill me with uncertainty and worry with all your thinking. I'm now just left with anxiety and worry blotting out all nice warm fuzzy feelings i had. Thanks a lot.

SO uh....mom probably did abandon it or thought it fine, if it had been in any real danger of predators chances are good there aren't toooo many black bear
bobcat, lynx, cougar, or coyote in Hudson NY, river town (har)...smallish, quaint, lotta antique shops...cops with terse tones t'wards defenseless animals (probably bullied in school, hope he doesn't have kids). Why call animal control, free the little guy and let him loose back into the food chain, he/she looked fine innit?? Not like it was frikkin' choking on those xmas lights.

Oh, so tender and tasty...then again, officer friendly there could have taken her home, semi-domesticated it and learned a bit about himself while raising and caring for her....and THEN filled the entire freezer (and not necessarily with this one)!

Stusaid:

I bet he would have tasted delicious...
