That child does not seem to be latching correctly. The baby should be showing "fish lips" and the nipple is supposed to be well into the mouth beyond the gum line. It seems it should look like this:

I think the kid is old enough that she is just doing it for comfort rather than nourishment. In such cases, latching is less important..

Thanks for the clarification. I was wondering if it was a natural shift corresponding to the child's age/size. (They don't go over that in breastfeeding class.)
