Cyclist runs red light

There was actually a ghost car police officer directly on the corner. She witnessed everything and was immediately in position to help. The rider luckily walked away with a sore hip.

The driver and his wife were fine.

A young woman was killed in the same intersection last year when a driver ran a red light.

So... As a PSA, please, no matter what your method of transportation may be, be aware of your surroundings and be careful. Wear the correct safety gear, drive the speed limits, follow the rules of the road. This accident could have been a lot worse, but luckily everyone walked away fine.

I would have thought that slamming 1.5 tonnes into someone at that speed would do a lot more damage.

A police officer in her cruiser witnessed the entire thing and the cyclist was charged with running a red light.

He was lucky, you can see he went up and over the hood, so instead of a direct impact on him, the bike took the brunt of the damage. If it had been a truck or something he'd be in bad shape.

Calling this guy a 'cyclist' is like calling an 8 year old that sits in a plane cockpit a 'pilot'.

This is nothing. You should watch just a few Russian dashcam videos... pedestrians and bicyclists getting slammed MUCH worse than this all day long.

The amount of bikes I see running red, and blowing through stop signs, using no hand signals, I say good... Maybe now at least one person has learned and more will learn from this incident... I hate to see people get hurt, but if you don't follow the rules, you bring it on yourself, who can help the ignorant?
