Cop-Killer Suspect Lunges

courtroom video catches a suspect's angry lunge

Really? Tazer? He's in cuffs, he's outnumbered 4 to 1, and you STILL have to use a Tazer?

How much is that fucking company paying to have them used so much?

oh, considering he's a cop killer, I'm pretty sure this one was those cop's pleasure.

They should have offered this poor child a donut and sweetly asked him to leave the room or sit down.

But why taser him? I don't think he would headbutt anyone or bodyslam a deputy or god forbid, bite someone.

Also, I would pay real money to watch some of you people do the work of police or jail officers.

Tasers: Please stop confusing them with phasers We don't live in Star Trek times yet.

less lethal does not equate to non lethal.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly sympathetic for the cop killer, nor would I shed a tear if they executed him. But still, 5-6 on 1 and still needing a taser is fucked up. And yeah, you know damned well they're going to get some free hits on him while no non-cops are looking.

Why don't you take your own bet Lantern? You're so...liberal with betting other people...bet yourself. If you've got such a hard-on for "justice," why arent you signing up? or are you just too special?

I'm with @lantern53 on this one. Maybe if the guy was some 140 lb. elderly guy with a pacemaker I could understand the outcry over the taze. But that is one big dude and he clearly wants to hurt people. Absolutely deserved a taze to force compliance. IMO, it's safer for the prisoner as well--back before tasers the cops would've just beaten him with batons until he stopped moving. It seems to me that the number of baton strikes it will take to subdue a combative suspect is more likely to cause severe and lasting injuries than a taze.

i am with the no taser camp.
the police are using the taser as torture device, not protection from bodily threat as it was meant to be.

Paddling the school canoe? Oh, you better believe that's a tazing.

Amazing, cause I was just thinking that I'd pay good money to watch a gang of police officers use excessive force on you.

Just remember, any officer is well within his or her right to kick, punch, taze, pile-drive, or shoot you in the back in order to ensure your compliance.

No matter how trivia the violation. (tag light out, no rollback after stopping, etc.)..

p.s.- i hear breathing and blinking and begging for mercy are very threatening and can be considered "resisting arrest".

You might wanna avoid doing those things if at all possible.

Sign up? I've been a police officer since 1983 and while I have never tased, shot, or hit anyone, I know a bit more about this type of situation than you do.

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. But I see where you're coming from.

tymebenditsays...

what do you think the function of the taser gun is?

i thought it was there to be used instead of a gun to stop someone from causing bodily harm... you know... so you wouldn't have to shoot the person with a gun...

but in the videos i've seen, they're being used more as a punishment.

are you ok with police dishing out punishment with a taser?
especially when the perp is restrained and poses minimal threat?

Oh no! @lantern53 threw down the Internet Pissing Match Gauntlet, whatever shall I do? Oh wait, it's another logical fallacy...I call them out for the bs that they are.

For all we know, you're a fat desk clerk at the station with delusions of grandeur. And even if you did get put in a situation where you did see action, there is no indication that you wouldn't be another cop that uses excessive force where it's not needed.

Like I said, I've got absolutely zero problem with taking the suspect down hard and fast but a taser is not a "do what I say" or a "you looked at me funny" button. You've got close to a half dozen people covering a restrained guy in a split second. Taser was unjustified. period. It's a joke that these guys can't subdue him. What the fuck did the police do before tasers? somehow they were able to subdue people without using a device that can kill.

Go read through his comment history. You'll see why I've had him on ignore for months. If he is a cop, he is exactly the kind of douchebag that represents all that is wrong with the police nowadays. This tired "you-don't-understand-how-hard-our-job-is" defense of any bullshit cop behavior only plays well with those who are unquestioning/fearful of authority, extremely gullible, or can't be bothered with critical thinking. As far as knowing "a bit more about this type of situation", it's the kind of dismissive condescension that has so infected police forces everywhere that it has become common caricature. It ignores the fact that the general public, the people police are supposed to serve, have eyes and ears of their own.

Our job is boring most of the time, the dangerous part is the fun part.

But I know where you libs come from, I understand why you do and say as you do.

You can call me or anyone else a douchbag, it's your preferred method of discourse. I deal with people like you all the time, it's what we get paid to do, lol.

When you grow up, you'll come around.

I'm in agreement with the no taze in this circumstance. It seems as though the call for a taze was to subdue and not to injure though.

The real question is what happened to him out of camera view? That would be the answer that validates my final conclusion of this situation, because it would describe the guards mindsets. Are they removing a threat from public or bullying a perceived (until proven guilty) cop killer.

That mindset concerns me, fun is a word that should be dissociated with regards to protecting people and upholding the morale norms a society has chosen.

Fun is not what you get into that job for...

If you want to have fun go do it on your own time and in a manner that is not potentially degenerative towards society as a whole.

harlequinnsays...

The description is not accurate. I don't see him lunging at any family. What I do see at 00:07 seconds is a court room guard / police officer (not sure what he is) grab this guy first, as soon as the guy realises he is being man-handled he bucks up and starts fighting.

If this guy is / was found guilty then he'll get what's coming to him.

pot calling the kettle black much?

you don't really get to claim the high road in discourse when you spit out a phrase like "you libs" or "people like you"

It has this habit of clearly demonstrating that you have no clue what civil discourse is.
