I'll give it a try when it is released, but if my mechanized infantry can be wiped out by an enemy charioteer I swear I'll never play a Sid Meier game ever again.

hard to improve from civ4. I really hope they don't do the same thing that you can win a clearly superior unit. Way too many times a bloody frigate sinks a destroyer or a spearman kills a troop of marines, which is just ridiculous.

Sorry to disappoint, but it's actually a text adventure.

They had me at hexagons instead of squares. I foresee several sleepless days of 'just one more turn'.

Civ 2 was as good as it gets.

I've never understood the appeal of an amazingly complex single player (you're really going to play that for hours with other people?!) strategy game. Multiplayer sure, singleplayer would just make me feel lonely ...

Civ is multiplayer. It works quite well in 4. I've played coop.

I do play mostly single player, though. The games have a great narrative, like a book. I read history books by myself, why not rewrite history by myself.

Meh, I only played Civ4 because the title music was pretty.

The game takes over 24 hours if you're micromanaging everything properly... how do you schedule a 48+ hour multiplayer game?

24 hours seems a bit much. My games average 10 hours and I play on epic speed. My wife tends to finish games in 5 hours because she's less of a perfectionist. On Youtube, there's a user "themeinteam" that has "let's play" civ videos where he wins on immortal with 2 to 4 hour games, on medium maps: e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SoMQ9mtvYE

Also, in multiplayer, you take your turns at the same time.

I never automate workers though, because automated workers are stupid.
