Catholic School Teacher Fired For In Vetro Fertilization

Added to my list of why I hate religion.

Wanting to give life and love something more than yourself = a grave immoral sin...if it's not god. That god is just so fucking needy.

EDIT: Also it's In vitro. Latin for "within glass".

part of me is ok with this though..as despicable as it is. If they want to continue doubling down on the whole "it's a private school, we can do what we want" argument. They are going to alienate more and more people...Nobody is going to want to work for them and it just hastens their demise or it forces them to change and be more tolerant. so win win in the end. As the conservatives are so fond of saying...starve the beast.

Freedom cuts both ways, you're free to do what you want..but if you don't act within some semblance of societal norms and what is considered decent, no one is going to want to be around you or work with you.

The church continues to lose it's flock with their obsolete ways.

On the flip side though, you know damned well they make exceptions for certain people, they just keep it quiet. This lady pissed off the wrong person so her situation got publicized.

Hope she pushes for a nice big settlement on top of her job being reinstated....because just getting her job back isn't enough to make the point.

Needs to go for a 7 figure settlement, that way if they do it again chances are they'll be paying even more..

And while it may hurt the students by making school more expensive, at least it'll help keep some kind of sanity in the workforce..... Not a big fan of "think of the children" type arguments when it comes to screwing one person over royally and being OK with it just so some theoretical group may not experience some of the backlash of justice being done.

Another case of bigotry and intolerance, excused because it's religion and therefore must not be questioned. Bullshit. I can't fathom why this is accepted. And before shinyb anyone says that I'm being intolerant of religion, I'm not - if you have religious objections to in-vitro fertilization, don't use it! Likewise with gay marriage, if you have a religious objection, don't marry someone of your gender.

If the day comes that the "liberal elite" try to force Christians to use in-vitro fertilisation, then I will stand up for Christians against this intolerance. If the "gay lobby" (such stupid phrases, like we/they hold secret meetings or something) tries to force Christians to marry their own gender, then I will stand up for Christians and decry the intolerant gay lobby.

More than anyone, religious people should be livid about this. Shit like this is being done in the name of your religion and this makes you all look like fools.

OK yeah this is retarded, but what made the video for me (just because I know how some religious groups are and get exhausted listening and being reminded how crazy it really is) is the dude in the background at 2:40.

Well, aside from you only one person mentioned god. But because you obviously really want a windmill to tilt at, I'll bite.

"god" is a man made concept and religion is that concept in action.

It's a bit like asking why so many people confuse business and the economy. They're not the same thing but one cannot exist without the other.

Why do so many of you confuse religion with God?

BTW, just for the record, I'm really not a big fan of IVF. Why would you spend so much money artificially trying to add yet another person to an over populated world when there are so many kids that need adoption?

Due to a strong evolutionary imperative to spread your OWN DNA?

Sure, I get that people want kids and they want their "own" kids. I understand the reasoning behind it. But we need to use our heads here and get past evolutionary imperatives. For example, most human males don't force themselves on females or fight other males for breeding rights.
