Americans - Where to live when the USA economy collapses

One guys interpretation of where post-econo-apoco-lyptic life in the USA would be easiest. I think he's a bit off base personally.

I love how these apocolypse nuts are getting so delusional. Frost line, Go right ahead, you betcha, i'll be defendin' my patch of apocolypse corn so be careful where your wanderin' the t2000 will own everything below the frostline..everybody knows that.

What a laugh! This guy is an idiot. The only places he left on the map were either along a fault-line, perfect place for a hurricane or in swamps. I'll keep my frost thank you very much. Cold temperatures have the advantage of no poisonous animals, unless you count Michelle Bachmann.

Considering people live all over the world, in various temperatures, population densities, and rainfall amounts, I think history and humanity shows that we can survive anything. Silly.

Knowledge is what enables you to survive.

The cold kills off the pests that will eat you in small bites and infect you with things that will make you miserable. Never-mind what happens to water in a warm climate. Anyone who would want to be in Mississippi during the Apocalypse hasn't traveled much. People would be hunting you... on your farm (frost????).

Drachen_Jagersays...

What an idiot. First concern is getting his toes a little cold? Because it's impossible to live without technology in a northern climate? I'd be more concerned about the pressures of human population density which, coincidentally is lowest in the areas he immediately rejects. Easier to dress in furs when you don't have to fight the neighbouring tribe for every animal (and after about two years you'll have de-populated the edible and fur bearing species anyhow in high human population regions).

I think the rainfall and population bits are pretty reasonable. You don't want to be trying to survive off the land in an arid climate with a million people per square mile. But, yeah, the frost line part was a bit much.

Why so much hate? Do y'all not war game things out ever? That is mostly what I do in life, even for the relatively unfathomably. I would say I would subscribe off of most of what he said. I don't think I could provide a shelter for myself enough to be suitable in hard winters. I also wouldn't be smart enough to figure out how to make a well, I would have to use surface water, so in the winter that is a big deal as well. Even more so if it is frozen but without snow, then you have to go jab off parts of frozen ice and thaw it which is a pain and time that I am not gathering food.

Unlikely, maybe, but he wasn't even selling it as a fear mongering perspective, more like a very through war gaming.

Great, good, fine... whatever.

What I really need is a map showing where I should build my real life version of Bartertown, so that I can start growing my own post-America empire in the wasteland.
