Study Dispels Concealed Carry Firearm Fantasies

seltar says...

Hypothetical:
Lets say a few people started carrying weapons at schools and wherever.
Some random kid comes in and starts shooting.
One of the kids with concealed weapons manage to stay calm, get cover, and unholster their gun. He tries to get in a shot, and in doing so, another innocent kid with a gun sees him and mistakes him for another gunman as well. This kid then shoots the other kid. Repeat until everybody with guns are dead.

Why does everybody seem to know that they immediately can assess the situation well enough to not kill other innocent people that are also trying to save the situation?

It is a fantasy. It might occasionally come true, due to luck, circumstances or whatever, but that doesn't mean that should be the go-to method.
Guns should be used for hunting. Fully automatic weapons have nothing to do with hunting, and should be banned. Permit should require checkups at a shooting range.

Run. Hide. Call 911. Don't carry guns!

Sheesh.. Can't believe we're having this discussion..

No wonder the american troops are being put on pedestals, and worshipped by the people. The lies are the only way to keep the military going without making it mandatory to serve 1 year. Mandatory service and more transparency would still be a better option, in my opinion.

Silence on the Power Point limitation? (Money Talk Post)

seltar says...

@dag Don't get me wrong, I like most of the system on the sift. And I agree it should take a while to get used to all the nooks and crannies.

I just feel like limiting powerpoints to years active seems like a high threshold.. Maybe months would be better?

But then again, I don't see why limiting power points is a good idea in the first place, so I probably don't know what I'm talking about. I still feel your star level is more than enough to judge how much power you can have. Adding limits on power points on top of that just seems a bit too much.

Also, @lucky760 - is it bad that some people are "collecting" power points? if so, maybe add some sort of expiration dates to the points? and why is it bad?

Totally agree that frontpaging is a big deal, and should be hard to obtain.
But silver / gold users aren't exactly beginners. By getting to the level where you're allowed to frontpage, you've proven yourself a valid member of the community, imo.

I hear you. It's a point well made. The ability to frontpage is a very big deal in my opinion though, and not something that a beginner should be able to do.
