It was, in fact, quite excellent. Not only that, but the show and game series are canon to each other, unlike most adaptations. The show expands the lore, and answers some big questions that have been around since the games started. TONS of easter eggs for fans, but even those unfamiliar will enjoy the show.

I found it because I subscribed to both Adam Savage and the Slow Mo Guys. Watched the Guys' video first, then Bobby Fingers' and BY GOD is it an absolute work of art.

Do we know what this is from? Feels like it was ripped from a movie or tv show, before being chopped and filtered by several iterations of internet posting.

UPDATE: I decided to just answer my own damn question. It's 2008's The Onion Movie, the existence of which I just discovered.

Real "I ate all the Halloween candy" video vibes here. Perhaps I'm just a fun hater, but I'm very not a fan of the genre. Feels like the ask for participants is "please slightly erode your parent-child relationship to entertain strangers." Maybe the kids feel fine about it after the fact, but on some level there's got to a tiny bit of "my parent is willing to hurt me for the benefit of others" encoded into their mind forevermore.

This is so confusing to me. Presumably there should've been a way for Shane to overcome the issue he was seeing, but he completely failed to do so? If you've seen his channel, it's like 90+% troubleshooting problems! Perhaps he didn't really care all that much?

I was very confused until I noticed the Onion logo. Seemed a very surprising degree of honesty.

Meanwhile, active shooter drills. Meanwhile, parents buying basic classroom supplies so the teachers don't have to cover them with their meagre salaries. Meanwhile, schools share a single nurse between them, while having no funding for mental health specialists.

Liberals tend to focus on issues that actually impact kids. Conservatives seem obsessed with policing morality, while ignoring actual harms being done. I don't much care if my kid reads a book that has some sex in it. I do care a LOT if their classmates are being passed through the system without actual basic skills competency, because the school lacks the budget for remedial classes and tutors.

Man, I really prefer those dog-shaped robots. Humanoid robots owned by an Elon-controlled company feels like a prelude to the shittiest apocalypse.

I'm upvoting because the presentation seems pretty creative, and I believe there was likely still a human involved with putting it together. But the utter wrongness in a lot of AI-generated art really fucks with my head, and I could only handle about half. I worry that the more we allow AI to have a hand in creative endeavors the less meaningful our entertainment will become. Also the more fractured and individualized our options, the less common ground we'll have with which to relate to each other.
