It's possible this is like the physical diffrences in brains that stop people beng able to perceive faces, or objects, or movement.. all different parts of the brain process these and are separate constructs.

could it be a problem of pitch recognition i wonder? as tiny hairs in our ears pick up the frequencies, but then the transmission of those through neurons could be disorganized somehow.
though perhaps there are a range of different problems that can cause amusia with different effects on the perception of sound...

He doesn't even get to a point in the end, he completely trails off and forgets what he's talking about with absolutely no conclusion.

The difference is that Sam Harris is possibly the most reasonable person you will ever get to listen to - and Slavoj Zizek is a philosopher of entertainment, he attempts to break things down into things they're not!

The only argument you could have against Sam Harris' reasonable assertions is that we should use something other than reason to decide what the most reasonable positions are, which would just be dumb.

i think this emily was spot on about McCain, how his personality hasn't translated on the stage, his caustic personality and dry humour doesn't translate on the stage, doesn't give people the warm fuzzies like people get from obama, and that has a big effect. it was more likely to swing to democrats this time around but people are swayed by personality.
