I think it's terrible that it's been so long and yet nothing has been built. As a morale boost it would have certainly helped to show that the american people could reunite and rebuild even if aggressive forces have brought the WTC down.

Realy nice arcutecture i dont like the main tawer shape but the rest of it is real nice as for september 11th realy sad for each person that died. but at the same time USA deservd it its a real shame that the people that died wernt the people directly responsable like sertain govement people and its evan more of a shame that instead of waking americans up to the crap thay are doing around the world its just made them more fundimental and ignorent ( same with the english although to a lesser exstent).

This obvously dosenot aply to all americans but from a limited exsternal view piont it dose seem that a large number of americans suport what there goverment is doing and blindly think that just becuse thay are american there people and govement are incapable of evil on other peoples around the world.

its funny how we shun the suicide bombers and the whole martadum thing but its just as acepted in houre culture with people dying in wars for what thay belive we see that as giving there lives for other people as the biggest act of selflessnuss that exsists.

Although it looked like westy typed "but at the same time USA deservd it", I think in the next paragraph, if you cross your eyes and squint a little bit, then you can clearly see the following:

"butt eye wood b prowd to b ann amurcan becaws at lest eye wood no eye wuz fre"

Over 3000 fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and children were murdered as they simply tried to work, wank around, or watch viral videos. I can support showings of nationalistic unity for them.

"...but from a limited exsternal view piont it dose seem that a large number of americans suport what there goverment is doing..."

So that means those people who died "deserved" it?

And for the record, only the sheep and the wolves believed what this President did was right. A very good friend of mine lives there. She made the long, silent walk home over the Brooklyn Bridge after the tragedy...she lost friends and co-workers...she saw the pain and heart-break from such a heinous act up close and personal.... And neither she nor many of the other New Yorkers, wanted to hit back. New York City as a whole never supported what this administration did as revenge.

As for the video, thanks for posting it. I don't know if I like the name...I wish they would keep the name "World Trade Center"...because that building was a symbol of the world, not USA.

From the original architect, Minoru Yamasaki:

"The World Trade Center should, because of its importance, become a living representation of man's belief in humanity, his need for individual dignity, his belief in the cooperation of men, and through this cooperation his ability to find greatness."

I couldn't agree with you more, Daphne. Taking down the WTC was a blow to the entire world IMO. I wish they were rebuilding two towers again and keeping the original name.

I live in France, and did when on 9/11, it was a real tragedy not only for America, but for the whole world as well. I believe what westy was trying to say is that an attack from the world the US is trying to "free" was just a matter of time, and even though at the time of 9/11 you might not have thought so because we were all living in a idealistic bubble, retrospectively it all has some sick logic.

There are a lot of immigrants in France, many of them coming from north Africa ( Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia) which are Muslim nations. I hear them talking and there is this growing dislike of America, they believe ( now i'm generalizing i hope you get that ) that the US are not waging a war on terror but on Islam. I recently read a poll saying that something around 60% of Americans still thought the US represents freedom and justice in the world... well wake up, i live in the rest of the world, and the Us is starting to look a hell of a lot live the Evil empire it supposedly fights. ( i know it's the government but the government represents the people, whether they like it or not.)

Fletchsays...

I wish it wouldn't be called "Freedom Tower". Sounds... I don't know... just reminds me of freedom fries, which I thought was absolutely stupid. "Freedom Tower"... yeah, it just sounds dumb to me. Maybe if I were one of the 53 million lemmings in this country, I would think it an appropriate name. I submit "Fletch Tower" as a more reasonable name.

swampgirlsays...

Fletch, the town where I live named a new community sports complex "Freedom Florence"...also some roads were named "Freedom _____" We're all supposed to think they're good names. If we didn't...well then we're not patriotic. :-(

Ok a lot of people get pretty corny when patriotism comes up, but it's not a holy cow or anything.

N.Y. should rebuild "two" towers, not one...and it's named The WORLD Trade Center.
