Zero Punctuation Review: Halo 3

By popular demand, Yahtzee throws down on the most important media property of the year, Halo 3.

I can't piece together 5 intelligent thoughts in response because I was just blown away by the awesomeness, so I'm just going to blurt out random lines and gags from teh review which had be in stiches.

Head crabs, hookers, passing chicks, pants-on-head retarded & retarded ewoks FTW!

Halo is so average it's incredible. I can actually understand the success to some degree, as it's the first above average Console-only FPS I have ever seen and a whole bunch of 13 year olds who don't own a PC have probably never heard of Doom or HL. But what absolutely boggles my mind is the near perfect scores these games have been getting from reviewers. I could understand an 8/10 or an 8.5/10 but 9.5/10?

ROFL!! Man, this was a really great review. Makes me want to rent the game just to experience what he is talking about (I still barely get time to play Gears of War)

I never did get why Halo was so popular. It was intended for the PC until Microsoft bought it and butchered it for an exclusive Xbox title. I remember seeing the first one over at a friends house and thinking what's so great about it.

Deanosays...

I like Halo 3 for multiplayer on Live but it's a rather shallow single-player experience and barely changed from the disappolnting campaign in Halo 2. It's also reminiscent of Halo campaign which I did like and played repeatedly. But years later, with game design having moved on, that's not a compliment.

It is great fun online and the combat has always been engrossing. I don't really care about pc shooters as my computer is primarily for work and I have little interest in constantly upgrading hardware.

That Halo 3 is being critically overrated is a non issue, it was going to sell like hotcakes anyway.

BTW jimnms I'm sure it was intended for the Mac. Mac owners were pretty outraged that their games were going to dry up once Microsoft bought Bungie.

I remember it coming out for PC (otherwise I don't think I would remember looking forward to it at all). PC and Mac simultaneously, maybe, but then I don't remember because I don't really care about Macs. Not to be mean, but nobody (nobody important anyway) except Blizzard makes games that run on them.

Alaksays...

I never play multiplayer because I find that I attract the 12 and under crowd. I also get the heavy breathers. The whiners. The 'lets talk/yell to other people in the room' while the mic is on. And of course, the lets narrate our every move to everyone as we do it. Or occasionally, the gamer that instructs me how to play a game that, well, has frankly been out for years.
