It's easy to be selfish, to sit back and say "I deserve this life, this Xbox, this job, this car" etc.

It's harder to force yourself to think, hey maybe someone else has to suffer for me to have this, hey maybe the acre of land that had to be cleared to build my house is contributing to the environmental issues we face.

This video does a good job at clearing away the fog, we ARE all connected in a lot of ways, if patriotism leads to war, then fuck patriotism.

I heard in my environmental science class once that if resources were divided equally amongst everyone in the world we would all be living like people in third world countries, no wonder it's such a hard sell.
The clip of Jacque - Fresco Money is good but I don't buy the idea that currency invented bribery and corruption, it all happened before, just with horses, slaves, land, or whatever else was of value.

So, the argument I am hearing you make is that millions should be dying so that we can bask in luxury...

It was more of an observation that we're outstripping the resources of this world as a whole, not an argument that others should suffer for our gains or that we shouldn't strive to make a better world.
A totally even distribution of resources would mean that those who are suffering now would still be suffering, and we would be right alongside them, which sounds fair but beyond that I don't know what it would accomplish. Unless you're willing to give up your home and all modern conveniences, health care, etc.. then you're just as guilty as the rest of us, not judging mind you, just seeing things for what they are.

Peroxidesays...

I don't buy it first of all, it smacks of B.S. Secondly, broken down to its essentials it is an argument for letting some die so that others can live a life of opulence. If my prof. fed me that bullshit I'd ask for some sources, and if he/she didn't provide I'd seriously question their morals.
