How much and what kind of fuel supply?
E_Nygmasays...where's hobbes?
oxdottirsays...I asked the aeronautical phd in the next office, and he says this is a fine toy, but doesn't have much redundancy, and thus isn't very safe. He sent me a link to a similarly small helo, but crafted from 4 single-stroke engines, and thus much safer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Jfx7TduKwWw. I'm tempted to sift it, but there isn't much content so maybe I will just leave it here. Should I put it in the comments?
jimnmssays...A friend of mine sent me a link to a this a few months ago, but it's from a different camera. It's not a personal helicopter, it's a guy being lifted by an RC helicopter. The guy underneath has no control over the helicopter, it's being controlled by another person with a remote.
Here's the other view:

oxdottirsays...The aero PhD previously mentioned told me that the guy was clearly controlling trajectory via body weight, which is not uncommon for specialty enthusiasts' craft. So having a person making an RC motor spin does not preclude this being a design for a rider-controlled craft. Think prototype.
But again, look at the link above for a more fully realized vehicle (which currently only one guy has the skill necessary to fly).
Addendum after more closely watching the video jimnms linked: it is possible his controling the vehicle via body weight in the original (sifted) video was more accidental than purposeful, but such control is used in other small air vehicles. It would be interesting to know the order of the two clips in time and if the weight control was purposeful.
Peroxidesays...Finally ! A beanie that works!
StukaFoxsays...If Hitler had had those, we'd all be speaking German today! And we'd all be deaf, too.
furrycloudsays...Forget flying cars, those bad boys are the way of the future!!
choggiesays...What's gonna happen if the rotors become unbalanced for some reason?? The neck is the first line of defense for the spine, eh?
Yeah stukafox, if Hitler signed off on those frikkin' dragonfly one-man bombers that need no airstrip, he'd a seen these and ordered them into producktshun in time for the invasion of Poland....
jwraysays...that guy is going to be deaf
