Ok, I was curious so I looked it up on http://www.nbcchicago.com. It turns out that the woman had 3 small children with her, so it's not clear whether she stole the money or was just distracted and thought it belonged to her. It was a $20 bill. The store gave the girl an ice cream party, and the woman paid the money back (after her husband turned her in to the police, LOL).
