Lost me about 12 minutes in. I was right there with them until the animal experimentation stuff; this guy probably wouldn't be alive today if it weren't for animal testing. Yeah, of course we need to test stuff on humans after we test it on animals, but we save human lives by not advancing to that step if the animal happened to explode.

So yeah, 3 minutes in; I was in tears. This is the most horrific, disgusting, disturbing, disappointing thing I've witnessed. I honestly hope that every one of those people I saw in this video, and to all those that think this is alright, suffer as all those helpless, innocent animals did; and then some.

6 minutes in is an elephant that went loose in hawaii after killing the trainer, the police ended up shooting it many, many times to kill it. Later it was found out that it had been abused. As for the animal experimentation, I dont need someone to hit a chimp in the head with a hammer to know it would probably mess me up! Besides some people think they are gonna live forever, so just let em take the medicine!

Like torture of prisoners gets faulty information, the medical treatment of something physiologically different than humans is faulty.

I don't need to say any thing about the zoos, circuses, or any thing like that. The video speaks to that what should be spoken.

yes, a dangerous comment to make, especially since i am not able to describe elegantly what i am trying to say in english.
i dont mean animals that eat each other.
look at a flock of hens, even free roaming hens on an ecological farm. look what they for example do to the hen at the bottom of the rank. thats torture.
swans fighting, the winning swan will torture the other one for hours.
horses keeping order of their rank... etc.
the language animals use to talk to each other consists of lots of violence.
i also recently saw a documentary on chimpanzees, one flock fought off some other flock, and then they kept a few young males and practically did some medieval torture on them.. i can find a link.

but none of the above does of course mean that i agree with humans being violent to each other or to animals. of course not.
(I just did a documentary film about horse training and "the five animal freedoms", and interviewing people like monty roberts who is an big advocate of non violence in training.. thats where i stand "politically" on this, just to make that clear.)

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)

I tend to agree with you lavoll - violence in nature is common and essential if natural selection is to work.

The question is, how do we fit that into our moral outlook and belief systems as "civilised" animals. It's related to sooo many debatable issues in daily life. vegetarianism, the death penalty and the the humane treatment of prisoners.

I eat meat, but I recognise that animals have emotions, thoughts and personalities. How do I justify my (allowed) violence to a cow or chicken?

I can't easily.
