shuacsays...Sarzy: ever in the vanguard with all news cinematic. Well done, sir. Malick is more accessible than Kubrick while retaining all the contemplation and measured pacing. Thin Red Line is a fucking masterpiece.
EMPIREsays...Looks beautiful, although there was a shot just like a scene in Danny Boyle's Sunshine, and somehow it gives me a certain "The Fountain" vibe, which is good, because I love that film.
Sarzysays...I, too, get a Fountain vibe (which is one of the most underrated movies of the last decade).
And I haven't seen the Thin Red Line yet, a mistake I shall soon rectify. But man, this is such a great trailer. I think I've watched it around five times this afternoon, and it's still blowing me away. *promote
siftbotsays...Self promoting this video and sending it back into the queue for one more try; last queued Wednesday, December 15th, 2010 10:32am PST - promote requested by original submitter Sarzy.
siftbotsays...Tags for this video have been changed from 'The Tree of Life, Terrence Malick, Brad Pit, Sean Penn, awesome' to 'The Tree of Life, Terrence Malick, Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, awesome' - edited by RhesusMonk
budzossays...All the space shots are probably used the way nature shots are used in TTRL.
Trancecoachsays...Also recommend Badlands (1973) and Days of Heaven (1978).
Terrence Malick is among my top ten favorite filmmakers... along with Fellini, Bergman, Scorcese, Lynch, von Triers, and others...
this one looks good -- strange casting, tho, to put Pitt in the role of the father.. maybe it's because the audience already knows him as a sort of "young stud," and not the paternal type...

Please go watch Thin Red Line now. It's amazing. Not only beautiful (which is weird for a war movie), it is also unlike all other war movies, because it's more about the individual experience.
Yogisays...I saw the Thin Red Line when I was a kid...I keep getting it mixed up with Wind Talkers and other War movies so I have to watch it again. Yes the Fountain is one of the most underrated movies ever.
bareboards2says...@blankfist, didn't you have a blog entry about Tree of Life?
Just found this:

Rats. I purposedly didn't watch this because I like to watch the movie first. But after all the comments.... I'm thinking I'll pass on the movie itself. So I came back to watch the trailer....
