Tip of whip visually breaking sound barrier

I was watching QI and they said that it wasnt until recently "they" figured out a whip breaks the sound barrier when making the crack by seeing it on slow motion video as the whip did not hit itself as thought, THEREFORE I went looking for a video of this.
