The problem with actions movies today

So true. I can't believe Hollywood people don't know this already!

The problem with action movies today is consumers are willing to pay to see any turd they crank out and turds are quite easy to make. You keep paying for them and they will keep making them.

I can't recall the last action movie i enjoyed and/or was willing to pay to see.

...and it's not that they (studios) don't know. They just don't care. Making money trumps quality every time for most studios. Especially if they have shareholders.

of course i'm assuming all this based on what i see.

I've seen a few action movies in the last few years that I enjoyed.

The Raid and its sequel were great, Edge of Tomorrow was entertaining, as was Fury.

Those recent movies were mentioned in the video in a positive light. And, I completely agree with you on your picks.

I wonder if there's a correlation to age. Some of the notable action movie failures are ones made by directors that have also made notable good action movies; George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, The Wachowskis. The difference is the not-so-good movies were made when the directors were older.

A couple of my favourite authors also went this way. Their earliest books were great reads, their later offerings less so, as if they lost touch with what made their earlier works so good.

I guess sometimes wisdom does not always mean better.

Fury was laughable. It tried too hard, so it looked like a pathetic propaganda movie from exactly those times.
John Wick however was really well made. It felt like a good 80s or 90s action flick.
