lucky760says...Fascinating. I love videos like this. I honestly have never thought about how large distant stars might be in relation to our own.
Btw, lordnull, you can vote for your own posts, icydk.
lucky760says...More videos that do a great job of demonstrating the insignificance of mankind:
• Monkeys - A Short Movie About What We Are
• IBM: Powers Of Ten (amazing 9 minute science video).
coreburnsays...Is there supposed to be no sound?
lordnullsays...I always feel kinda dirty voting for my own posts; as though I'm trying to shore it up
Both good vids, Lucky, it makes the day to day grind a little more bearable somehow. Just as you think 'wow, that's massive,' then an even large star comes into view.
There was no sound on the video, Coreburn, but I dont' see how it really needed any.
pragmaticksays...Impressive
siftbotsays...Tags changed from "star scale, no sound, insignifigance" to "star scale, no sound, insignificance" by gold star member dag.
Baquetasays...There has to be a "your mum" joke in there somewhere...
Seriously though, very cool clip.
Ivegotthebendssays...What's amazing to me is that those stars are almost as big as our entire planetary solar system. From here to Neptune is roughly 4,497,000,000 km. W Cephei would reach from the Sun to half-way between Uranus and Neptune.
dagsays...Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)
Yes, the gap between Uranus and neptune is huge.
We had a video on here somewhere that mentioned that scientists have gotten fed up with the Uranus jokes - so they're changing the name to Urectum.
(bah-dum-bum)
loorissays...yeah it's good without sound. Too many visual videos are ruined by a bad or stupid music track.
quantumushroomsays...This is all wrong. I'M the center of the universe*

anyone? please?
siftbotsays...Invocations (science) cannot be called by smibbo because smibbo is not privileged - sorry.
9058says...Wow watching this actually made me feel sick and another thing where is Uranus? All jokes aside they had every planet but one, the people of that planet are going to file a petition. Also I thought blue stars were the biggest, or was that the hottest? Hmmm
arvanasays...Definitely *science *spacy and *nature.
siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Nature, Science, Spacy) - requested by arvana.
