So I read a plot summary of the book its based on and it's some guy's delusions of grandeur? Besides making it cinematic, what's the point of it all?

The summary says he embarks on a true life adventure. So it will likely be a mix.
I'm not sure what he's like as a director though. I was instantly expecting Michel Gondry to be behind this.
