In signed arithmetic, yeah, 110110 is -22. But no such declaration was made, assumption of unsigned is acceptable

charliemsays...Its irrelevant, as its not a significant binary value (1,2,4,8,16,32 etc.)
The symmetry that exists in the base 10 system isnt the same as in base 2.
So 10x2 = 20 in base 10, you can easily see the pattern there from a double of a significant base value.
But in binary, its not the same.
10x2 = 100 in base 2. Provided the value to begin with has significance in relation to the base, you will see a symmetry, but 22 is not a significant base value.
22 in binary = 010110.
54 in binary = 110110.
No symmetry.
