Here's an idea: how about creating a unique scream for the scene, when and where it is warranted, instead of using some shitty stock scream recorded years ago? I guess that's too hard or too novel a concept for some.

so sick of the Wilhelm scream. Seriously, it used to be this funny inside joke, but now it's just sad. We can CGI entire movies, but we can't come up with unique sounds?

yeah I have to throw my vote in for the "hate the wilhelm" side of things. It's so overused it rips me right out of whatever film I'm watching when I hear it.

I too find it quite annoying to be thrown out of a movie upon hearing the Wilhelm scream. It might of been a funny inside joke years ago amongst sound designers, now it just seems inevitable and annoying. Although I'd suppose I'd rather have this, if nothing else for the sake of variety.
