Terry Fox - c.1980

Terry Fox is a symbol of bravery in the face of incredible odds. In 1977 he lost his leg to cancer. Three years later, he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. He started in Newfoundland in April of 1980. He got as far as Thunder Bay Ontario before he had to stop. The cancer spread as far as his lungs, preventing him from going any further. The cause was taken up by the media and celebrities, and he managed to raise $24 million. Today, millions of Canadians still participate in the Terry Fox run to raise money for cancer research.

The audio of him explaining why he has to stop is... it just chokes me up. What an incredible individual. What an incredible Canadian.
