Bruti79says...Wow, she came within an eyelash of touching that third rail
joe2says...i'm going to make a guess that those red rectangles are motion detector software that automatically stopped the train when it detected motion on the tracks. there was no human involved in stopping the train at all, i bet.
Stingraysays...*humanitarian
This happened in Boston. It made big news because of the bystanders flagging down the conductor to stop the train. There is another security camera view that showed the entire line of bystanders telling the conductor to stop.
The bystanders gave the conductor a standing ovation when she emerged from the subway train.

what did we bet again?
PostalBlowfishsays...fail.
Njalsays...She and that famous drunk guy from the store should make a fine couple. I can imagine them stumbling around town together, falling under subway trains, trying to buy more beer but failing horribly.
Also: Would she have been safe where she was lying if it didn't stop in time? Don't subway trains have lots of space under them between the wheels like regular trains have?
Kerotansays...And this is why the London underground has large pits in-between the sleepers of the track, there was actually a case of a guy jumping on top of a women who was on the tracks, and forced her down into one of said holes, and as a result they both lived.
imstellar28says...Its bad she stumbles onto the the tracks; its worse she just lays there and gives up. Even if you are blacked out drunk, how does your unconsciousness not try to save yourself?
GuyIncognitosays...what is the significance of the third rail?
eric3579says...^ The third rail is the conductor, that carries the electricity, which powers the train.
gtjwkqsays...It amazes me how people don't die more often in subway stations: millions of people every day standing near a hole in the ground with high voltage electric rails, and a train comes by every few minutes to finish you off!

This happened in New York too.
