Stephen Colbert 2006 White House Correspondents' Dinner

"On April 29, 2006, comedian Stephen Colbert appeared as the featured entertainer at the 2006 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, which was held in Washington, D.C., at the Hilton hotel. Colbert's performance consisted of a 16-minute podium speech and a 7-minute video presentation, which were broadcast live across the United States on cable television networks C-SPAN and MSNBC. Standing a few yards from U.S. President George W. Bush – in front of an audience filled with celebrities, politicians, and members of the White House Press Corps – Colbert delivered a controversial, searing routine targeting the president and the media."-Wikipedia

The Correspondents Association learned their lesson. No fancy-pants comic is going to point out that they are the tame lap dogs of the administration this year! No, this year featured Karl Rove rapping! Joking about biting the heads off small animals! That's about as topical as they want to get. Bunch of gutless wonders.

The Colbert sense of humour is meant to be a little bit stupid. it's funny because it's stupid, though that was funny on a whole other level. even the idea of getting him to speak at such an event makes me giggle.

you at least have to acknowledge that it was a gutsy bit of work, no?

"u forgot a comma or two, young one, and Colbert is still not funny, so let's be nice next time please" - CaptainPlanet

Pardon me, but I'm an English teacher. Would you care to point out where I forgot a comma or two?

PostMortemsays...

"hey postmortem, did joo find you figure out them commas yet?"

You're the one making the assertion. As such allow me to repeat:
"Would you care to point out where I forgot a comma or two?"

Since you have not done so it is clear that you haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about.

Jesus the man has brass balls. And why did Bush invite him there? Perhaps it wasn't his choice but someone by else who wanted to embarass him.

Reminds me of a medieval joker who could be the only one to tell the truth to the tyrant and still get away with it.

Again... the man's got GIGANTIC BRASS BALLS.

rougysays...

Balls of steel.

I love you Mr. Colbert.

I will *promote but be shanked due to my inequity.

But Steve, really. You rocked.

James Bond had nothing on you, that night.

Wish we had a thousand of you.

Salute.
