"Fascinating and very informative documentary about the making of special and visual effects for one of the best and most influential motion pictures in the movie history - George Pal's 'War Of The Worlds' (1953). The documentary refers to the making of innovative special effects and giving background information by providing some illuminating facts about the production. Commentaries by actress Ann Robinson (Sylvia Van Buren), special effects historian Bob Burns, assistant director Mickey Moore and amongs them, a few words from two times Academy Award Winner - visual effects designer Robert Skotak from 4-Ward Productions, Inc., who participated in creation of such modern classics and visually astonishing films as 'Aliens' (1986), 'The Abyss' (1989) and 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day' (1991).

The Martians on Earth are eventually killed by earth-borne bacteria, of which their immune systems couldn't cope due to having destroyed diseases on their home world of Mars.

Auguste Lumière, who along with his brother, made what is considered the first motion picture ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Workers_Leaving_the_Lumi%C3%A8re_Factory ) lived long enough that he could have seen War of the Worlds.
